New bodycam and surveillance footage of the Austin Metcalf murder were released yesterday. It’s the case that gained national attention when Karmelo Anthony fatally stabbed Metcalf at a track meet at Memorial High School in Frisco, Texas. Anthony was found guilty of murder earlier this month and given a 35-year sentence.
 
There are also new images of the weapon Anthony used to kill Metcalf. As he’s being arrested, Anthony pretty much admits he did it.

Earlier this month, Karmelo Anthony was convicted of the murder of Austin Metcalf after plunging a knife into his chest at a high school track meet. There were a few (very openly racist) protesters outside the courthouse who claimed that Anthony killed Metcalf in self-defense. One of Anthony's biggest supporters was Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who claimed that "black women live in agony every day that I promise the Metcalfs had never lived through." Later, she doubled down on her support for Anthony, telling TMZ that Metcalf was 300 lbs. and was on top of Anthony, beating him down, which is a lie. She also theorized that Metcalf was a football player, and so he'd been trained to use his fists as deadly weapons.

Police released a photo of Anthony's knife, and, unlike what Crockett and her podcaster friend argued, it was not a Swiss Army knife "like with the little scissors."

A woman in Longview, Texas, was allegedly jumped and beaten by a group of girls who targeted her because she was White and small — while shouting “Free Karmelo” during the attack.

Sammie Lee says she was out having drinks at Whiskey J’s and nothing happened inside the bar. But as she walked back to her vehicle to head home, multiple girls she had never met or seen before jumped her. According to Sammie, they were yelling “Free Karmelo” and made it clear they were looking to target “the smallest white girl they could find.”

I place the blame for this squarely upon the shoulders of Obama who stoked racial tensions and Joe Biden who signed off on making a federal holiday of Juneteenth to remind every black about a long-ago history, as well as vigorously removing statues of Confederate heroes and even renaming military bases.

There is no end to pandering as it will always be something else.  Give an apology once, then no more.  Our history is much much more than how blacks were treated early in this country.

Racism is a curse no matter who does it.  This poor girl was attacked by vicious racists.

The idea that somehow, black people cannot be racist, that racism is a one-way street, needs to be eliminated. When people like these attackers, and likely even Carmello Anthony himself start being tried for hate crimes, then maybe some civility will be restored.

Yep, Obama set race relations back 50 years, and then took them somewhere they've never been with the idea that something Americans ended 160 years ago somehow gives people today license to behave as hatefully as they want.

They have virtually no chance on appeal. What I find most interesting is that even Karmelo’s own legal team seems to be throwing his parents under the bus.
When the people closest to the case start pointing fingers internally, that should tell you everything you need to know.

A team of elite civil rights attorneys announced they will represent Karmelo Anthony in the appeal of his murder conviction for fatally stabbing fellow high school athlete Austin Metcalf.

Texas NAACP president Gary Bledsoe, veteran appellate attorney Russell Wilson, civil rights lawyer Brooke Cluse from Ben Crump Law, and others have joined forces in an effort to overturn Anthony’s conviction and 35-year prison sentence, CBS News reported.

They will conduct an independent review of the trial to determine whether any errors occurred during the trial in their pursuit of an appeal, the lawyers said in their announcement on Monday.

They will be working the case pro bono.
