2 charged after St. Louis street takeover; 3-year-old found in backseat

Two suspects are in custody related to street takeovers in the City of St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two suspects are in custody related to street takeovers in the City of St. Louis.
 
St. Louis police said that Drug Enforcement detectives interrupted a street takeover in the area of 9th and Branch on Sunday. Detectives spotted a white Lexus GS300 with no plates performing stunts in the intersection.

Greg DeBourge currently lives at the One Cardinal Way tower at Ballpark Village downtown.


“Every intersection in downtown St. Louis, you can see the tire marks from people doing donuts,” said Greg DeBourge.

But not much longer.

He and his wife are leaving partially due to stunt driving.

I don't get it... My boys, both of em, LOVED it when I'd light em up and lay patch. Especially in the pickup with 40" Swampers _ And yeah, It'd light up all four. Bark hard and gone.

Very minimal risk to a kid in the back. I think this is much ado about nothing.

Nah. These guys draw a close in crowd and do their stuff ('drifting'--cutting a continuous donut) with that mob close in around them like an old road rally crowd. It is just a question of when they mow them down like a Muslim at a Christmas parade.
It isn't like laying a strip on the highway somewhere and heading off.

The crowds at these things are incredible stupid to be in the mix of the chaos... At that age I guess they think they are bulletproof.

I know what drifting is. I've attended. Both street and professional. I have built motors for drifters.

It ain't really my bag, which is more hopping lights, 1/4 mile, offroad, and of course, getting chased by cops. 😊

Likely so.
I've made cars and pickups do what I wanted them to do in ways the casual observer might have felt unsafe. People who knew me knew better.

But I wasn't surrounded by a crowd like that, and if something went wrong, well it was mostly just me who'd suffer for it.

Me, I especially liked going from point A to B, windy roads okay, in fact loved, and went around many a tight, steep, mountain turn with the wheels turned the wrong way back in the day.  I don't have the iron for that sort of stuff any more.
