Law Passed! Your New Car Will be Mandated to Watch Your Every Move — Where is the Data Going?

Quote:
A hidden section deep in President Biden’s 2021 Infrastructure legislation has privacy experts and car industry gurus deeply concerned after it mandated shocking surveillance technology in new cars that could monitor your eye movement, car cabin air, and even your fingerprint touch in an effort to curb drunk driving. What is this advanced impaired driving technology and its supposed “kill switch” feature? And where is your collected data going? Here’s what you need to know.

Kill Switch Law Ushers in New Level of Surveillance in Your Car
https://www.libertynation.com/kill-switch-law-ushers-in-new-level-of-surveillance-in-your-car

Quote:
Americans have increasingly surrendered their privacy to the ever-encroaching tech state. From advertisers tracking your every purchase to cameras capturing the exterior of your car on highways, the surveillance state is not new. Mostly, the public has acquiesced to these intrusions for convenience. But a new law passed in the Biden era, which has yet to take effect, will usher in a whole new level of intrusion with a kill switch inside your car.

Put bluntly, a camera will be fixed to monitor the driver, and if what the camera sees is not acceptable, a “kill switch” will be engaged to render the vehicle inoperable. This week, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced legislation that would repeal this new mandate.

LOL.  Well sort of.  You can rip that shark tail thing off.  But ther is still that will be ready to track you.

Only by stumbling open wiffy, or hooking to your phone... And the wifi has an antenna too. SHHHH. 👿

Doesn't matter tho... Your phone can do all that by itself. With the exception of the kill switch interaction.

If this is what I think it is, it is a camera watching the driver's face and the car's computer monitors your eyes. If you don't sit up straight or are not looking forward for too long it triggers the system. I have no idea how it handles sunglasses... No antenna required. Remote shut off is something else.

I tend to lean towards my right side while driving, resting my right arm the center arm rest. In doing so, my car complains about me not paying attention every once and awhile... It just makes a warning sound and pops up a message to that effect. I don't believe it can be turned off. It's my first fancy Lexus...

I'd bet it will be handled by AI. And AI is not in your car or your phone. If it can't phone home, the AI ain't there.

They'd play hell making the car not start unless it can phone home.... That would not be a viable solution out here where cell coverage is spotty at best.

You slide into the ditch in winter. It happens. A patch of black ice and one wrong move, and you are no longer on the road.
That's Winter, with a capital 'W' in North Dakota.

You're stuck, but the engine is running and you are level enough to let it, so you can keep the heater on. It's 25 below out, the wind is whistling by at a sedate 25 MPH. You make sure the exhaust is clear of snow, and settle in for a nap until someone comes along...and the AI shuts the engine off.

Nope. Don't want one.

The car doesn't need connectivity for that to function. So I believe it is entirely local to the car. In fact, you can be out of cellular range and I'm pretty sure it still functions the same.

In the Lexus it doesn't turn off the engine or otherwise impede the vehicle's operation. It is more like the seatbelt warning that belt isn't latched. If you are starting to nod off it will start making noise to try to get your attention.

Does this kill the engine in transit?

Engine quits, and power steering and brakes don't work? You can still steer and brake but it is much harder. You are slowing down in the middle lane and trying to get to the shoulder. Good luck, that would just about guarantee you will get hit.

This is supposed to avoid accidents?

Oh, don't get me wrong - It's coming. It WILL phone home. It WILL ID YOU and log onto a network (it probably technically does that already). It just doesn't HAVE TO yet... But it's coming, I am sure... And there is a mighty downside to Starlink - As broadband for the masses moves to satellite (and it is nearly there now), it will be just part of the furniture to become connected anywhere...

Except in a giant tin box on wheels... which may as well be a faraday cage as far as the sky is concerned. THE it is part of the furniture... THEN people will command the convenience.

THEN it WILL phone home and ID you and know where you are at all times... Know that you went in that ditch and send rescue and towing automatically... Which the bill for it will be automatically deducted from your world account, before the fact... And AI will look at the onboard black box and automatically determine whether you fell of the road due to conditions, or if your driving requires a citation - which will also be automatically determined and deducted from your account...

And THEN he rises. For no man can truly buy or sell, or travel -- Because travel is necessarily a part of buy and sell.

THEN he rises. I can see it from a long way off.

I get it. But it's moving to client server... via AI... And AI is too big to fit onboard - But AI can do that stuff, not to mention much more, all of which is server side, and easier to instruct and maintain (yes, I said instruct)... Saving precious room on itty-bitty storage onboard, and relattively hard updates.

It will go that way - betcha money.

Scalia To Student: If Taxes Go Too High ‘Perhaps You Should Revolt’
WNEW-FM ^ | April 18, 2014
Posted on 4/19/2014, 3:17:52 PM by 2ndDivisionVet

Knoxville, Tenn. (CBS DC) – Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told a crowd of law school students that if taxes in the U.S. become too high then people “should revolt.”

Speaking at the University of Tennessee College of Law on Tuesday, the longest-serving justice currently on the bench was asked by a student about the constitutionality of the income tax, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Scalia responded that the government has the right to implement the tax, “but if it reaches a certain point, perhaps you should revolt.”
