First lady Melania Trump’s senior advisor is opening up about how the first lady reacted the night an armed suspect stormed the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in an alleged effort to assassinate President Donald Trump and administration officials.

"She was not frightened. She was in full control. She knew what had to be done," senior advisor Marc Beckman told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview.

Chaos broke out at the Washington Hilton Saturday evening just as the annual event was kicking off, when an armed suspect stormed the event in what authorities say was an attempt to assassinate the president. The incident prompted Secret Service agents to rush the president and first lady from the room as guests scrambled for cover.

While this was not the first attempt on Trump’s life, it was the first time his wife was present.

"She's a strong person. She was not injured. Nobody was hurt, fortunately. She was really happy at the end of the day that everyone, in fact, in that room was in good health and was not injured," he added.

Beckman said the first lady quickly took cover at the Secret Service’s direction and then urged others at the table to do the same.

During the chaos, a moment of shock appeared on the first lady’s face, with many assuming it was in reaction to the gunshots.

Beckman, however, said it was due to something different.

"She was learning that the mentalist [Oz Pearlman] was able to guess what Karoline Leavitt's child, soon-to-be child, was going to be named, which is remarkable. It's shocking. Hence, the expression. Coupled with literally Secret Service charging through the center of the room," said Beckman.

The first lady joined her husband and administration officials in the briefing room after they were evacuated from the dinner.

The man accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner also shot a Secret Service agent’s bulletproof vest, according to NBC News.

Cole Thomas Allen, 31, was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives when he charged through a security checkpoint inside the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the event was being held.

One floor above the ballroom packed with government officials and reporters, Allen discharged one of his weapons, hitting a Secret Service agent in the vest, NBC reported on Wednesday. Some early reports indicated the agent may have been hit by friendly fire. The Secret Service agent was released from the hospital over the weekend.

General rule for buckshot is 1 inch of spread for 1 yard of travel. At 5 yards (15 ft.) a 5 inch circle; 10 yards (30 ft.) ten inch circle, etc.

In an enclosed venue, the shot was likely under 10 yards; If 00 Buckshot, he may have been hit by all of the pellets. If a slug, he likely got hit by 7/8 of an ounce of lead, and the presence of a cellphone inside the vest would have spread the impact force considerably: <1 inch squared to about ten square inches, reducing it by a factor of roughly ten in terms of PSI (not accounting for the deformation of the phone nor energy absorbed by the vest).

An Allegheny County man is accused of threatening to kill President Donald Trump and a member of Congress.

An FBI spokesperson confirms Raymond Chandler was arrested by FBI Pittsburgh and the Secret Service on Friday morning.

Court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and obtained by Channel 11 give insight into the threatening statement Chandler is suspected of making.

According to the affidavit, Chandler left a voicemail on April 18 for an unidentified member of Congress, in which he asked the individual to imagine that 1,000 people “pull you out of your house and  they slit your throat and they slit your daughter’s throat and they slit everyone’s throat.”

Chandler stated that this must happen because “wealth concentration has gotten so bad in this country,” the affidavit says. ...

A federal judge on Monday decried the prison treatment of President Donald Trump's alleged would-be assassin, and apologized to him for restrictive confinement imposed by jail staff.

Cole Allen, 31, has been in federal custody since prosecutors say he attempted to gain access to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner ballroom and kill Trump along with other high-level government officials.

Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui told an attorney representing the Department of Corrections (DOC) that he was "fascinated and disturbed" by Allen's treatment in jail. Allen was placed on suicide watch when he was first imprisoned.

Suicide watch protocols mandated that Cole remain on a 24-hour lockdown in a "safe cell" and have no phone access to call or receive visits from anyone other than his legal team, according to the motion. His lawyers also wanted him to be able to obtain a tablet to assist in his legal defense.

Today isn't the first time DC Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui apologized to someone arrested for threatening the president and berating the DOJ for its handling of the perp.

Last year, Faruqui apologized the Edward Dana, a career criminal who said he wanted to kill the president during an arrest for other offenses.

The latest man charged with trying to assassinate President Donald Trump received an apology from the judge in his court appearance Monday.

Attorneys for Cole Allen claimed in filings revealed during the hearing that the suspect had been wrongfully placed on suicide watch and denied access to a Bible.

'Mr. Allen is forced to be escorted to the shower, strip searched when entering and exiting his cell, and wear a padded vest while inside.'

Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui gave the government until the next day to update the court on where Allen would be held at the Washington, D.C., jail.

"Whatever you've been through, I apologize for the prior week," the judge said to Allen, according to USA Today.

Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui, a member of the Capital Area Muslim Bar Association, apologized to would-be Trump assassin Cole Allen on Monday for the bad treatment he allegedly faced in D.C. jail.

“To me, it’s extremely disturbing that he was put in five-point restraints, a person with no criminal history,” the judge said. “It’s troubling. I never heard of one Jan. 6 defendant who was put in five-point restraints or in a safe cell.”

“What am I to say to Allen that this is going to be a fair process if we’re putting him in a safe cell when he’s not supposed to be in there? At a minimum, I should be apologizing to him. We are obligated to make sure he’s taken care of,” he added.
