In the history of the world, who has surrendered during a ceasefire? There's no incentive to surrender under those conditions.

Oh, I dunno.  A ceasefire means neither side is fighting but messaging before it can be pretty dramatic and cause one side to surrender nevertheless.

Genghis Khan captured Nishapur and murdered 100,000 men, women and children, even animals, and stacked their heads into several mountain of skulls.  Several cities afterwards chose not to fight and surrendered to Khan's armies.

BTW, Nishapur was part of Persia not too far from Tehran, and comprised of Muslims.  Ironic, eh?

Trump cancels Witkoff, Kushner trip to Pakistan for US-Iran talks

President Donald Trump told Fox News’ White House correspondent Aishah Hasnie on Saturday that U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will no longer be heading to Pakistan for talks with Iran.

Trump said it’s not worth the U.S. delegation making the 18-hour flight to Pakistan when the U.S. holds all the cards in the conflict with Iran.

He added that the Iranians can call the U.S. at any time they want.

"I've told my people a little while ago they were getting ready to leave, and I said, 'Nope, you're not making an 18 hour flight to go there. We have all the cards. They can call us anytime they want, but you're not going to be making any more 18 hour flights to sit around talking about nothing’," Trump said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reportedly already left Islamabad, Pakistan, following talks there Saturday with the country's prime minister.

Araghchi made the remark on X after visiting Islamabad, Pakistan, for a meeting with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

"Very fruitful visit to Pakistan, whose good offices and brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region we very much value," Araghchi said. "Shared Iran's position concerning workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran."

Sharif, in his own statement, said he "had a most warm, cordial exchange of views on the current regional situation" in the Middle East during the meeting with Araghchi.

Ok ... so if there aren't going to be any talks because the U.S. has all the cards and the talks are unproductive, then this only again extends the unsuccessful ceasefire. Then the U.S. needs to play all those cards negating the need for further action in Iran and we can exit.

Further, if the talks have been unproductive -- then send Kushner on his merry way.

One wonders, how many times does it have to be proven Iran doesn't take negotiations seriously?  We have 47 years of broken promises from this bunch, some as recently as a week ago!
