Battling with the Pope isn't going to help the GOP come the mid terms, but the President is correct .... the Pope needs to open his eyes and ears....it's hard to fathom that God would want the leader of the Catholic Church chastising someone who is trying to save the World.

So far Trump has saved America from the liberal leftists and has exposed them for who they are.   I'm not  so sure that, that's going to be enough to keep the GOP majority in the mid terms, but I agree, Trump is trying and sure as heck hasn't given up.

@DCPatriot

I think Trump's priorities are skewed.  His focus on everything outside our borders will cost him in November-- and the millions who carried him back into the oval office based on his America First 2024 campaign. These are self inflicted political wounds.

Trump's Congressional caucases are in free fall --- his domestic Congressional agenda is stale --what there is of it is stalled, gas prices will be high right through early midterm voting, and today he's glowing because he's inviting Lebanon and Israel to the WH to sign a cease fire agreement for war few Americans know or care about .... and Trump may go to Pakistan to sign an agreement with the Mullahs --- no update on ending a civilization.

What happens outside our border does affect us in today's world.

I don't know where you live, but gas prices are falling around here. And some grocery prices are as well. I'm not really sure how the government or Trump can control that anyway.

Yup.  @DCPatriot

Trump has spent more time and energy taking care of the Middle East than the USA.  First Gaza with the return of kidnap victims, then a ceasefire between Gaza and Israel, then the establishment of a global governing board for Gaza (what ever happened with this?).  Every minute broadcast around the world.

It ain't gonna matter on election day.  Understand that those who supported and voted for Trump in 2024 did so based on his promises, which did not include peace between Gaza and Israel, peace between Israel and Lebanon, regime change in Iran, or arrests in Venezuela.

Trump's international promise was an end to the Ukraine/Russia war.  How's that going?

I’m rather glad to see your view in Trump altering some.  If you can, then surely less devoted Trumpers can.

He happens to be correct in many ways, but his method of handling it is based in his emperor approach he’s used to in his completely privately controlled businesses.  He has to realize it’s not simply his say so (which is why he reaches for the EOs all the time), and much more complex than just ruling from on high.  It may have worked for his businesses, but it doesn’t necessarily hold for a complex system of government of a people.

I fear his big mouth is the biggest trouble for us, along with some things that aren’t really conservative.  I don’t have a problem with his foreign stuff except some handling issues.  But generally, he acts ham-fisted with that mouth and same “nanny nanny boo boo” defiant actions just to show he can.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue.

Well, that's a fact...I don't see how we win the House and the Senate is iffy in this economy....

IMO it's more than just about the economy which I anticipate will start to improve and prices will come down once Iran stops playing around.  With all the fraud that has surfaced around the DEMS and the pro immigration, pro Muslim, and anti American domestic moves that they are making I think you may be surprised that the DEMS are going to lose some seats.

I am thinking that the DEM voters have enough time before the mid terms to recognize what his happening in NYC and MN needs to stop.

The biggest promise that Trump has kept is he has stopped the flow of ILLEGALS.  That's huge!  Taxes have come down.

Gas prices here at certain stations have been coming down. I went grocery shopping today and yes, meat is still up, but eggs are significantly down, milk and cheese are coming down a bit.

As long as I can remember food prices generally stay up once they rise, but IF meat prices decline somewhat and gas comes  down...it's a win.

@DCPatriot  I don't have any hatred for the State of Israel.  (Can't say the same for her Prime Minister).  Where you and I differ is:  I apply the same "what's in for us" ---- to the American relationship with Israel as I do with every other nation and alliance  ----

I also have access directly and indirectly with internal polling and more importantly, focus group. And whether you like it or not,  Trump is losing his base.  He spent too many years telling both crowds and guests at small dinners that the Middle East is a black hole American presidents never learned to avoid.  He got it exactly right in his fist administration --- marvelous changes with the Arabs --- ,

He needs to wrap it up NOW.....refocus on America First ---- or he's going to need to start packing.

Trump so far has saved our country from nukes -- bumped off the Ayatollah and hasn't backed down.  You know if the DEMS are after him and want him gone, he's doing something right. I am more positive at this point and I'm seeing a victory in November @Right_in_Virginia  :patriot:
From DOGE to the current exposures of fraud in California and Minnesota to name just a couple of states, the Democrats have been in a tizzy because Trump and people empowered by his presence have exposed the primary means of funding their operations using our tax dollars. That alone is enough to have the whole Democrat Party, their pet illegal alien voters, their terrorist sympathizers, performing acts of incontinent cartwheeing prevarication right down to their astroturfed paid street protests.
The fact that Trump is successfully addressing multiple thorns in the side of America has them even more in a dither, and has me pretty much convinced that money laundered into political coffers had an illicit drug trade source as well.
The inability of the Congress to get off its collective ass and pass the SAVE act is devaluing the representation of every Citizen through the refusal to pass something 85% of Americans favor. Only citizens should vote and only citizens should be counted in the census for Congressional apportionment.
That isn't Trump's fault. He'd sign the legislation in a heartbeat, but it has to get to his desk. There are only a few who stand in the way for any but partisan reasons, and there are ways to workaround the 60 vote requirement. They just have to get their nether bits out of the jar and use them.

If the midterms cause the GOP to lose either house, or both, it's on the inaction of the GOP, not Trump.

The media have continued to do what they do, to lie and distort instead of inform. There are those who believe that pseudo-intellectual swill, and unfortunately, many of them vote. If you have enough stupid people out there, you don't need to cheat, but the Democrats will keep all their options open and will use them, if not thwarted. Graven in their minds is the image of Hillary losing in complete disbelief (after all, the 'fix' was in), and they never want to repeat that.

The chief concern is the abundance of judges who, for the most minuscule of reasons, throw impediments in the way of large projects (including the White House Ballroom) with little intent but to impede progress. What purpose is there in that except pure vitiriol, that they would rather have a basement with no overlying structure than complete the project. The hatred they express isn't just for one man, it is for all of America and especially the 77,000,000 of us who voted for him, and their own ungracious actions taken in the face of the popular vote.  That will not be forgotten.

This pope was hardly an optimal selection, but the neocons are not going to win a debate with him over Just War Theory.  Operation AIPAC Fury is pretty close to the opposite of Christianity.

Here is where we disagree. Those (fat) cats in DC ran on a specific set of promises, and they have routinely failed to deliver. They have a job, for which they are handsomely rewarded in pay and prestige, and have perks and benefits beyond what the private sector could ever expect.

We hired them to do their job, and they aren't doing it.
Trump isn't their daddy, they have leaders in the Congress who are failing to inspire their crew. Trump shouldn't have to whip them along to get them to do their job. Their failure is on them.
Democrats will show up in droves to vote against what they promised, Republicans will not be energized by the lack of performance and will have a harder time voting for the guy (or gal) who didn't try to do what they get paid for (especially when the average voter has to perform on their job or get fired in short order). We didn't hire those people to go up there and be self-absorbed, we gave them a job and expect results (however unrealistic that may be, considering their track record).

Frankly, I'm not sure Trump could be more disgusted than I am with the performance of the GOP in Congress, wasting yet another opportunity to move forward an agenda that would take us back to America before Democrat domination of the Congress and White House, even if the autopen was doing the heavy lifting.

That is why so many will lose their jobs if they don't get their act together, and it isn't anyone's fault but those members of Congress who would not get anything done. Trump has his job, and he's put band-aids on some situations with executive orders, but we know that without statutory enforcement, those can be peeled away and restore the mess we had at the end of Biden's term.

Add the saturation propaganda of ABCNNBCBS and "social" media, and you have a lot of people making bad decisions on the basis of fabrications, distortions, and lies who never get past the boundaries of that bubble, and seldom listen if they do. That, too, will affect voting, along with whatever fraud the Democrats can muster.

If as many people as claimed actually voted for Kamala Harris, for whatever reason, the problems this country has run far deeper than the top tiers of Government, but much of that could be settled (as much as anything is settled in politics) IF THE CONGRESS WOULD DO ITS JOB.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

@Smokin Joe

If Trump wants victory ....in elections and legislation ... he needs to lead the "fat cats".  That's an important part of his job.  What pisses me off is Trump *knows* this, but seems to believe all his voters are lifers. Foolish.

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
