No I cannot and will NOT get behind this Pope. He may be the designated leader of the Catholic Church, but something tells me that God would not want a prayer room dedicated to a group that slaughters Christians. This Pope is evil. I would even argue that this Pope is hiding behind his 'cloak' so that people will accept what he is doing. Don't be fooled.
As a note; estimates suggest there are over 1.6 million Muslims in Italy, there are only about 5 to 8 officially recognized, purpose-built mosques. However, there are roughly 700 to 800 unofficial or informal prayer spaces (known as moschee or luoghi di culto) operating in warehouses, garages, and cultural centers across the country.
