Midterm Sentiment for 2028 POTUS

I know POTUS election is still 2 1/2 years away, but thought it  would be interesting to gauge Primary sentiment of preferences early on,  As far as GOP, I like our bench's chances than the dems.  So what sez Briefers and Lurkers.

In my opinion, Rubio is your standard Conservative-in-name-only Republican, he has no core value except to do whatever it takes to get elected. He will flutter in whatever direction he perceives the wind to be blowing, if he thinks it will gain him an advantage. I do not trust anything he says today, because if he thought it would get him more votes he would say the complete opposite tomorrow.

Agreed  -- I cannot get past Rubio's affiliation with the 'Gang of Eight.  Secondly, he's not eligible to be president, neither of his parents were here legally or citizens when he was born.

No preference.  At this point, I don't think it will be competitive, regardless of who gets the nomination.  Trump's numbers with independents are in the low 20s which is something that has not been experienced since 2008.  Rubio has remained somewhat insulated, but obviously that will change the longer he is in the administration.

DeSantis isn't bad looking, it's his 'dry' personality that is a setback for him.  He has done great for the State of FL.  He was one of the wisest governors in the U.S. during the pandemic -- he was one of the first governors to open their state back up during the pandemic and he did so in phases.  We've never looked back.  He has moved us forward and to many we are considered the 'free' state.  Unfortunately too many people from blue states now call FL their home.  Let's hope they vote accordingly.

No there's not. Spending way more money than his first term - Way more money than Biden - That's the first thing to consider, and that failure is so massive and so abhorrent as to eclipse all else.

If it shows a ROI, then it can be called an investment, but these are shots at attaining long-term goals, and they may not come to fruition if there is a change in who is running the show. The weakness remains that without statutory backup, it can be all torn down with the next stolen election. That has to be prevented, and the "GOP led" Congress isn't even getting that done.
So there is all that inertia to overcome, and there is only (at most) 31 months left to get it done.

As far as Cruz stabbing Carson in the back -- I don't believe that rumor for a second.  Never have, never will.  I doubt he'll run again.  DeSantis has accomplished quite a bit and of course JD already has the VP spot.  Rubio is the wild card I think here; it all depends on how SCOTUS rules on birthright citizenship.

What Cruz did to Carson was reported in the news.  I thought it was malicious at the time, and it cost Cruz.  After he did it, he was finished in the eyes of the electorate.  It is not rumor!

And as others have stated on these boards, Rubio may not be eligible to run for POTUS.  In the past, that requirement has been abused by candidates.  I think it is long overdue for the Congress to withdraw from it's many decades of hibernation, stagnation, out right refusal to do their damn job and legislate that, and develop hardcore long lasting laws for immigration.

The citizenry of the US is getting damn tired of illegal invaders having a greater priority than the citizens.  They are tired of being displaced from high paying jobs for the benefit of lower cost foreign labor.  Congress is not worth having if they are not willing to protect the rights of American workers.

THIS BUSINESS OF CHEAP FOREIGN LABOR, USING H1-B VISAS AND OTHER METHODS MUST END.  I know many, mostly from India, here in the USA doing work that displaced US citizens.  Every system project I have been on in the last 20 years included a rather large contingent of foreign workers in China, India, or Ukraine, all receiving a fraction of the wages paid to workers here in the USA.  Projects funded with federal tax dollars, all that money going out to labor in foreign countries.  It must end!!!

The Republican that stands up and speaks to that particular issue will get my vote.  Dems would gladly send work overseas and pack the country with half the world's population, without a single care for the citizens of the USA.
