Sen. Paul continues push for Congress to debate U.S. role in Iran More than six weeks after the U.S. and Israel launched strikes into Iran, the most recent talks between the two sides collapsed.
Over the weekend, as a ceasefire was in effect, Vice President J.D. Vance was among the delegation sent to negotiate.
"The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement," Vance said over the weekend. "And I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States of America. So we go back to the United States having not come to an agreement."
On Monday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was in Elizabethtown touring a business. He spoke about the latest on the role of the U.S. in Iran, which was not authorized by Congress.
"According to our Founding Fathers, it (input from Congress) happens at the beginning. It's the initiation of war, and the Constitution says the declaration of war. It didn't happen that way," said Sen. Paul. "I would say this isn't the first time it hasn't happened that way."
Just a couple of weeks ago, reports emerged that the Pentagon was seeking millions of dollars more funding for the conflict. Congress would have to approve the spending. Sen. Paul says it's a price tag he does not want to add to the nation's debt.........
