Ireland is sending its army in to deal with farmers blocking roads. I think this is overkill. I would imagine it would be difficult for local soldiers to deal with people they probably agree with. Has this ever happened in the US? It would be interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has been in that situation.

Ireland could always allow for more oil and natural gas exploration in their offshore Exclusive Economic Zone.
