There’s a growing assessment that the current posture is a strategic play — pressure the Iranian regime publicly while quietly positioning additional U.S. forces in the region.
At the same time, there’s real concern:

I wonder how many Iranian military personnel realize that Kharg Island is an island. As the US demonstrated in the Pacific in WW2, an island can be neutralized by invading it or by isolating it.

As demonstrated in the Ukrainian war, FPV drones can hunt down and wipe out dozens or more troops a day. Especially when those drones are operated by combat experienced Russian drone operators, now in theater. Many will be fiber-optic guided, so jamming will have no effect.

As the war in Iran heats up, the Trump administration is considering diverting weapons away from Ukraine and to the Middle East.

The war has reportedly depleted the administration’s stock of “critical munitions,” making it necessary to procure more from elsewhere.

In a statement, a Pentagon spokesperson told The Washington Post that the War Department will “ensure that U.S. forces and those of our allies and partners have what they need to fight and win.”

Well, except for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who’d seemingly get the short end of the stick were this plan to move forward.

President Donald Trump nevertheless defended this plan to reporters on Wednesday, telling them that “we have tremendous amounts of ammunition” to spare, including for Zelenskyy up north.

Russia continues to expand its military cooperation with Iran to facilitate Iranian strikes on US and Israeli forces in the Middle East. The Financial Times (FT) reported on March 25, citing Western intelligence reports, that Russia is close to completing a phased shipment of unspecified drones, medicine, and food to Iran.

2 officials briefed on the intelligence told FT that Russia and Iran began discussing drone delivering soon after the US-Israeli campaign began, and that subsequent deliveries started processing in early March. The officials stated that they expect Russia to complete the deliveries by the end of March.

A Western security official told FT that the specific drone type that Russia agreed to send to Iran is unclear, but that Russia is likely only in a position to deliver models such as the Geran-2. Current and former Western officials told FT that Russia denied Iran's request for S-400 air defense systems. Russia has reportedly already been providing Iran with modified Shahed drone components and satellite imagery to assist recent Iranian strikes on US forces in the Middle East and US allies in the region.

There are a lot of stealth, almost guerilla warfare type tactics the Iranian folks can and should use.  I hope they start soon in earnest.

I'd start with psych warfare, like sending them boxes of pagers.

Since the launchers are kept in tunnels until use, and since there are hundreds of tunnels per site - each with hundreds of launchers, there is no way to know how many launchers remain.

The current series of attacks may be a Command&Communication problem, not a launcher or missile problem.
