Israel has learned this lesson many times. Once a mission is stopped for days or weeks, it is nearly impossible to restart it at the same point.
Two weeks from now, if Iran spits in Trump's face, most people will have forgotten about Epic Fury. Trump will have to start a brand new mission.
This is doable militarily, but political optics and political condemnation will be extremely negative. Iran knows this.

The fanatical leadership in Iran and their murderous thugs in IRGC had only one single goal, which was to simply wait it out and to survive.
Iran never had any delusions of defeating America. They simply wanted to hunker down and wait for America to give up and go away.
IRGC and Iranian government officials are popping champagne tonight. They had a plan. They stuck to it. And in the end, they won.

The New York Times reveals details of a series of situation room meetings held by US President Donald Trump in the lead up to the start of the war with Iran, including one in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly pitched a plan that would see the end of the Islamic Republic’s regime, apparently later described by the CIA chief as “farcical” and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio as “bullshit.”

According to the report, Netanyahu gave a presentation to a small meeting including the US president on February 11 that outlined plans for a potential conflict.

The report says the Israeli team also suggested Kurdish fighters could enter Iran from Iraq in a ground operation.

According to the Times, a day later, CIA Director John Ratcliffe told a meeting of top US officials, including Trump, that Netanyahu’s presentation on potential regime change was “farcical.”

The report says that Rubio then said: “In other words, it’s bullshit.”

When Trump asked Gen. Dan Caine, chair of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, for his opinion, the top military official reportedly told the president that the plan from the Israelis appeared overblown.

“Sir, this is, in my experience, standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell, and their plans are not always well-developed. They know they need us, and that’s why they’re hard-selling,” Caine reportedly said.

The report says that, in fact, Trump appeared most interested in killing the then supreme leader Ali Khamenei and delivering a blow to the regime’s military capabilities, with other aspects of the plan less relevant.

“Over the following days, General Caine shared with Mr. Trump and others the alarming military assessment that a major campaign against Iran would drastically deplete stockpiles of American weaponry, including missile interceptors, whose supply had been strained after years of support for Ukraine and Israel. General Caine saw no clear path to quickly replenishing these stockpiles,” the report says.

“He also flagged the enormous difficulty of securing the Strait of Hormuz and the risks of Iran blocking it. Mr. Trump had dismissed that possibility on the assumption that the regime would capitulate before it came to that. The president appeared to think it would be a very quick war — an impression that had been reinforced by the tepid response to the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities in June,” the New York Times says.

The newspaper says that while Caine’s colleagues believed the military official thought war with Iran was a bad idea, he did not tell Trump his opinion on the matter.

You can hate the tone. You can hate the man but you can’t ignore the result.

I just spoke with the President and would like to publicly congratulate him on this. Some of my not-so-smart Democrat colleagues will soon be forced to issue public statements of support when they understand the terms of what the agreement is. To be clear, President Trump has been consistent and precise in his messaging from the beginning. Only weeks ago, Iran was viewed as an existential threat to the US and most of Europe. NATO exposed who they really are. Many people got exposed. Those who try to use this to sow division or just straight-up lie have also outed themselves. To be clear, from the beginning, this was about saving American lives. President Trump has truly accomplished something that no other POTUS could have pulled off. PEACE WILL ULTIMATELY PREVAIL.

The IRGC will violate the ceasefire and the U.S. and Israel will have to respond.

The negotiators cannot control the IRGC because it is fractured and what's left is intentionally operating as disparate units capable of launching missiles and drones.

We'll be watching for violations and are likely to wake up to them tomorrow morning.

Don't forget that this war is hurting everyone with high prices.  Believe me I'm a huge loser in this as oil prices will collapse.  No more loss of life....  we'll see what happens in 2 weeks. 

Those of us in the upstream end of the industry have been looking on this as a spike, not a trend. AFAIK, drilling programs here have not been altered, and drilling activity has not picked up significantly (<1%).
