Oil prices continued to climb rapidly on Friday following remarks by President Trump that there would be no deal to end the war with Iran short of an “unconditional surrender.”

Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, rose above $90 a barrel on Friday morning, up 6 percent from the prior day. Compared with the start of the year, Brent is up 52 percent. WTI futures, the U.S. oil price benchmark, jumped by around nine percent to above $88. Year-to-date, prices are up by around 54 percent.

The U.S. war with Iran has disrupted global oil supplies as ships have been unable to pass through the Strait of Hormuz all week. Around 20 percent of the world’s oil supply typically must pass through that Persian Gulf bottleneck.

Kuwait has begun cutting production at some oil fields as its storage facilities have neared maximum capacity, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. That threatens a supply squeeze in the future, perhaps even after the strait is reopened.

Gasoline prices have been rising sharply. Compared with a month ago, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline is up 13 percent to $3.32.

The Trump economy lost almost 100,000 jobs last month.

Gas prices are up. ICE is out of control.

And Republicans have started another costly war in the Middle East.

We need regime change in November.

VOTE.

I hope the President has more to say about the climbing gas prices than "it's temporary (grin and bear it)"   .....

Gas is still under 3 bucks here in the L.A.   $2.89 today up 25-30 cents from my fillup yesterday.

Edit, I filled up yesterday and gas was $2.86.

So it only went up 3 cents.

The President's response to higher energy prices will be the same as his early Covid response - hope it goes away.

When he realizes the impact on GOP chances in the midterms, he'll panic, be overwhelmed with anxiety, and could even tell people to whiz in their gas tanks.

Any plan for attacking Iran, that did not include securing the Strait of Hormuz, was economic and political malpractice and ignorant of history.

Let the Indian navay secure the Strait of Hormuz since they are big buyers of Iranian oil.

The Chinese might be happy to play that role, too.

VOTE.
How many of those jobs were being done by illegals who no longer work here, Hakeem?

And you are the one urging the federal government be kept shut in.  Is that helpful to jobs?

What he does is always more important than what he says.

Likely he will divert the plans to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to enter the domestic market instead.

What we are witnessing did not have to happen if Biden had not caused the curtailment of the Keystone Pipeline. as that pipeline would have been capable of handling 830,000 bopd.

Last Sunday I paid 2.55 for gas (station that has 10 cents off on Sunday only).

Today paid 2.95 and figured I got a good deal.

(this is in the southwest corner of New England)

Hmmm... since we're now "at war"... shouldn't there be some kind of presidential order banning price gouging? After all that crowing about the USA now being "self sufficient" re energy, why aren't we cutting away from foreign markets and price increases and doing something pro-active about pricing/production right here?

(I know, I don't know the whole story, but certainly others will ask the same questions...)

Oh, the groans and complaints have already started and will continue to fester as the anti-Trumpers, leftists and marxists hatred continues. Trump did what he had to do in order to stop Iran and spare this country .... so far .... this battle was strategically planned, but in spite of the bumps and hiccups as a result, we as a country need to be  thankful for our FREEDOM.  We could be sheltering in place with most of us not having a very battle worthy place to hide in.

$2.90 in ND, and Bakken crude hasn't gone up.

Just a couple of thoughts:

Clear Iranian threats to shipping in the Straits of Hormuz, and supplies will be restored, the panic will be over. This is temporary, driven in the trading pits.

Just think how expensive gas would be if Iran had a nuke.

We produce 1.2 million barrels of Bakken Sweet a day. More than we need. Just like electricity (about double our needs in state). We export energy.

Sadly....  Russia is also catching a break with this Crude uptick.

Watch for a resurgence on that front.

He gives us free will.  Republicans knew they would lose congress and most likely the presidential election if they launched this war.  They didn't care.  Israel first.

You should read a little more widely.  It’s not about Israel, anti-semites notwithstanding, but about China.
