It was around the time Donald was in competition with Ted Cruz for the Republican nomination. I'm curious where everybody is at with it now.

Donald Trump is President, whether you voted for him or not.

GOP nominally controls Congress, but lack the guts to accomplish anything meaningful with that majority. They'd rather sit on their lazy asses and let Trump take all the political risks.

As a human being, Trump is far from perfect.  As President, he has the potential to be the most transformational President since Ronald Regan ... so long as his paranoia and insecurities do not get the best of him.  If Trump attempts Federal seizure of state ballots or interference at the polls, his legacy is toast.

Trump needs to put boots up GOP Congress's @sses to help him on the inflation / deregulation / anti-trust / competition / rebuilding (housing, energy infrastrcuture, manufacturing, trades) / efficiency / productivity front to bring prices down.

I'll judge him by what he accomplishes.  Too bad the MAGA's wouldn't let him take credit for Operation Warp Speed.  Operation Warp Speed is why the US came out of Covid with such a strong economy.  Joe Biden and the Dems threw that down the $h!tter with their Green New Fraud and their Does Nothing To Reduce Inflation Act.

Trump's ability to adapt and to innovate in the moment sets him apart from many past Presidents.  It drives people crazy because it can lead to uncertainty, but with Trump, you need to get comfortable being outside your comfort zone.  He's gonna try to push as many limits as far as he can as fast as he can to get what he wants.

Still as stubborn as ever and happy that he's term-limited.

He definitely has a different crew leading him around now. 2016-20 Trump was him playing using the GOP playbook. These people he has around him in this term... they're just agents of chaos.

But in the grand scheme of things, our problems have progressed so much deeper than anything politics can fix at this point.

The next nomination that I was hoping for was DeSantis.  Obviously that didn't pan out but I was elated when Harris lost to Trump as that would have been a nightmare.

I have always thought that Trump would be good for the economy (both his first term and this term).  He's hit some roadblocks with liberal justices, including those on the SCOTUS.

Both his first and second SOTU speeches were significantly superior to past SOTU speeches given by other presidents.

For the most part I think Trump has done well, (except for calming the riots).  He has been successful especially at the border and on ILLEGAL immigration,  but let me also add that I was a huge supporter of Cruz.  I think he'd make one heck of an AG and Trump is wasting his time with Bondi.  She's is a waste of space and energy.

I was hoping with a full majority that the GOP would get off their butts and actually pass some useful legislation for Trump to sign but as usual, they are proving for the most part to be lackadaisical.

The battle with Iran to me is anyone's guess as to how it's going to go but I believe Trump made the necessary call by getting rid of the Ayatollah.

Now that I've answered your question, I'd like to know how your assessment of things since Cruz was unfortunately defeated @Dexter1989

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

I think everyone thinks my opinion of the guy is erratic and frankly it is. He does some good stuff, some bad. I'll never really dig his style of doing things. For a lot of people, that's exactly why they like him.

I think Trump has been surprisingly potent, considering how much opposition he has faced throughout his terms. I don’t agree with everything he does, but I like that he actually does things. He’s impactful. He’s also very genuine about who he is and what he wants to accomplish. He’s not afraid to be direct and definitive when he speaks. That’s like a breath of fresh air in politics. I can appreciate anybody like that, even when I disagree with them.

There’s a lot of chatter about him possibly being connected to Epstein. It seems like for the most part the left is already convinced while the right tends to play defense on it. I don’t really have a position on that outside of being interested in all of the information being released. It implicates who it implicates. It shouldn’t even be a partisan problem at this point. I will say I would be rather surprised if Trump truly was implicated criminally.

Liberal land thinks the Iranian war is a distraction from the Epstein files. A lot of them think Jeffrey Epstein was an Israeli operative and that both Trump and Israel want to turn the public’s attention to something else. I find that pretty unlikely personally. As for the war in general, I wasn’t really sure how I felt at first. After thinking about it, I decided the world will probably be a better place after the Muslim theocracy that murders its own people gets removed from power. Hopefully we don’t get dragged into another decade(s) long conflict.

He’s certainly…

rough around the edges.
