This, to the best of my knowledge, is not confirmed intelligence (yet?) supporting US urgency.

Yes, they've had a field day with us since Reagan looked the other way 43 years ago.  That now we're going to kick arse for 43 year old military losses just doesn't quite pass the sniff test.  It feels a little like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Wha, exactly, did we accomplish this summer?  Seriously.

If we've learned anything over these recent years, it's that "things" can also be manipulated --- (Yellow cake uranium/Iraq; We're not nation building/Iraq;  We're not nation building/Afghanistan)

We know now to ask the questions BEFORE the quagmire, the lose of treasure, and most importantly the loss of our blood.  Questioning until we are satisfied is a sacred responsibility.

IIRC in Trump's  address to the nation or in answer to a question asked; we had roughly two weeks before Iran would have struck us. As CIC Trump has an obligation to the American people to keep us safe.  He did what was needed; Rubio notified the Gang of Eight even before the SOTU...so timing was not a surprise. 

According to reports the CIA was instrumental in locating where the Ayatollah was meeting with others -- they were correct and obviously they were taken out.

I must say I find it puzzling that critics harp on the question of whether there was an "imminent threat" from Iran. I get that such a threat is a legal justification for action without Congressional approval. But the question suggests that threats should be allowed to become highly advanced before they can be addressed.

I think the suddenness of the attacks and the 180° turn from the President's long stated opinion on global intervention suggest a manufactured "imminent threat". If this suggestion is wrong, the administration needs to clarify this, with evidence ASAP --- the building political storm demands it.

The suddenness also breaks with all precedent:  No UN involvement, case making, coalition building, or quest for Congressional and citizen buy-in.

Trump wanted a deal and a Nobel Peace Prize.  They wouldn't give him either, so, he took both.

October 7, 2023, changed the Middle East security math.  Hamas' attack was so successful, it made clear that the Iranian regime was an existential threat to the continued existence of Israel.  If some Americans get killed during Iran's dustruction of Israel, even better for the ayatollah.

IMO, Trump's messaging sequence was messed up --- absolutely upside down and inside out @libertybele

Trump needed to prepare us for a real possibility of war before he started dropping bombs.  If I could, I'd go back to Saturday, put Trump in a suit behind the resolute desk, reserve network airtime and have him give an 8 minute speech to the American people to update them, focusing on why this war would be necessary (based on current events more than on those from 43 years ago).

I would have ended the speech assuring the American people that the appropriate members of Congress have been notified and are up-to-date on developments and his administration is fully prepared for war as it continues to work for peace.

This ⬆️ should have dominated the Sunday talk shows ---- a president in control, strong, prepared, unapologetic.  ----

Instead he spoke through social media at 3:00 am early Sunday morning to announce a war had begun ----  and then was out of pocket for the next 12+ hours giving the democrats time to hone their attack points unobstructed.

Trump needs to fix this.
