Do I like what he does 100% of the time? No I sure don't. Do I like what he's doing to our oil industry? Nope. Do I like him claiming to be a Christian yet he doesn't even know what the word forgiveness means? Nope. Yup....I voted for him warts and all.
If you are referring to the drilling slump, it was overdue. We've been through a drilling boom that started back in 2010, between the Bakken and the Permian Basin, and fifteen years is one heck of a run for any boom. Considering I'd been in on the Bakken boom since 2000 over in Montana, it has been one hell of a ride. I worked 23 of 26 years pretty steady or insanely busy, with breaks during COVID and a year off after one client dropped out just to get over five years of burnout level operating (over 380 "8 hour days" worth of time working in one year, and that didn't include the time printing logs and well getting reports out). That was the year the house was devastated by fire, and it took almost a year (in the middle of a local building boom) to get it back together well enough that things were nearly normal.
We did our job, and did it well, and the result is that oil prices are low, the country is recovering form Biden energy policy and all the obstacles the Obama Administration threw in the way before that. For us,in the drilling end, it has never been about steady work (I broke out in '79, and that boom died, too. Getting steady work in the slowdowns was ever the challenge). You want a steady job, bag groceries or hire on with the local water plant. Better benefits long haul, too.
Just remember: High prices are their own cure, but low prices are, too. So the drilling end will be back, leaner and more competitive than ever.
