Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor – formerly Prince Andrew, Duke of York – was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was apprehended and placed in police custody on his 66th birthday.

The BBC notes this is the first time the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who has faced numerous allegations over his links to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested.

Andrew has consistently and strenuously denied any wrongdoing.

Police did not directly name Mountbatten-Windsor, as is normal under U.K. law. But when asked if he had been arrested, the force pointed to a statement (see below) saying they had arrested a man in his 60s.

Mountbatten-Windsor is 66 and today is his birthday.

He was apprehended after a raid on his new Sandringham home.

No, actually there is apparently a hard connection between both. I'm not into Brit royalty, but another Brit mentioned that Starmer appointed a minister promoted Andrew, both were mentioned in the Epstein files.

This is a major embarrassment for Starmer, who is holding on by a thread so this could push him out, given all the embarrassment he has caused the UK, including giving Diego Garcia to a Chinese puppet, importing millions of muslims, etc.

You also have to see how Parliamentary Democracies work.

In this system, it's the "Party" that forms the Government, not the PM himself. And the Government can only be brought down by a "non-confidence vote" of the MPs in Parliament.

Labour got a huge majority (almost 2/3 of the seats) last election (July 2024), so the opposition parties don't have enough votes to bring them down.

And Labour isn't about to vote itself out of power, that just doesn't happen in politics.

If he gets to be too much of a liability, what they MIGHT do is get rid of just Starmer (by a simple internal majority vote of all their Labour MP's) and replace him with someone else ... but Labour, as a Party, will stay in power until the next election at least (2028/2029).
