Retro Space HD

Documentary about STS-6, the sixth Space Shuttle mission and the maiden flight of Challenger, entirely based on historical narration, mission audio, and footage. The deployment of the first Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS-1) and the first shuttle Extravehicular activity are described by the astronauts with onboard footage and post-flight remarks. Sequences are shown in the proper mission context as much as possible.

This was before my time. I joined Ford Aerospace just before STS-8 launched and I began to integrate, test, and document Space Shuttle Telemetry Computer Systems on STS-9.

Bookmarking so I can come back and watch at a later date.

I was either at Martin Marietta or Ham Standard/ILC at the time. Both in Bldg. 7. Had an extended hospitalization at some point during those days, so many memories of those days are a bit cloudy.

I spent my time in JSC Building 30.  8/83 to 3/2014

It was MSC when I arrived in 1966, first to Building 2 (which eventually became Building 1) and then to Building 30, 3rd floor (Mission Planning & Analysis Division), then transferring to 1st floor (Flight Support Division). I was NASA in those days. Over the years worked for Lockheed (on- and off-site), Martin Marietta and Ham Standard (both on-site). All this in between moves to Los Angeles and Houston (Galleria area). I moved out of Houston to Clear Lake/Webster to get away from the congestion* and ended up back in the space biz.

*It didn't take long for the congestion to catch up to Clear Lake.  9999hair out0000
