Nancy Guthrie investigators seen with topographic map



Investigators were seen using what appeared to be a topographic map at a staging area near the home of Nancy Guthrie in Tucson, Arizona, last week.

The investigators were pictured Thursday around 5 p.m. in the La Encantada mall parking lot, which is just minutes from Nancy Guthrie’s home.

Fox News contributor Paul Mauro told Fox News Digital on Sunday that what investigators were using appeared to be a topographic map.

“Looks like something they were going to use to grid out to keep track of search areas,” Mauro said, noting that they appeared to still have been searching then, and may still be.

On Saturday, investigators were seen carrying what appeared to be a rolled map into the headquarters of the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Retired FBI agent breaks down importance of Savannah Guthrie’s use of word ‘celebrate’ in video plea

The word “celebrate” that Savannah Guthrie used in the family’s latest video plea to whomever kidnapped her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was intentional and may be instrumental in a peaceful negotiation for the return of the missing 84-year-old, retired FBI special agent Jason Pack told Fox News Digital on Monday.

Savannah Guthrie made the plea in a video the family posted to Instagram on Saturday.

“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her," Savannah Guthrie said, seated between her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie.

“The word ‘celebrate’ stood out to me immediately," Pack said. "Savannah didn’t say ‘surrender her’ or ‘give her back.’ She said return her so we can ‘celebrate.’ That’s the language of resolution, not confrontation. In any negotiation, you want to offer the other party a way to see this ending positively and peacefully for them too. That’s exactly what the family is doing.”

Pack praised the Guthries for showing “extraordinary discipline under unimaginable grief and pressure” in each subsequent video message to the kidnappers.

“In four days, they moved from an emotional plea, to a proof-of-life demand, to a public offer to pay,” he said. “Every step was designed to keep the line of communication open and lower every possible barrier to Nancy’s safe return.”

He added that the family saying “we will pay” is a deliberate strategy to concede to the potential abductors that the family “is serious, that they’re not stalling, and that there is a path forward.”

Pack said that he remains encouraged as long as the lines of communication remain open, noting that the investigation has now entered what he called “the most critical window.”

“Even though it’s coming through unconventional channels, local and national media outlets rather than direct contact, the fact that someone is engaging means there is a thread to follow,” Pack said. “If they’re communicating, that’s a welcomed development. The goal now is to keep that thread from breaking.”

*Private security at Annie and Tommaso's home

*The Saturday evening search took place with consent not a warrant. WOW. This tells me that LE likely did Not have the probable cause to search their home. If they did, they would have gotten a warrant. Again, this is big news.

*There was likely a sprinkler leak at Nancy's house. Not a big deal.

* Yayhoos who are reporting that Annie and Tommaso's house is sealed off are not reporting accurately.  LE has not sealed it or declared it a crime scene.

*5 PM is the cut off for the last received ransom demand.

*As of now, there is no money in the Bitcoin account of the ransom note writers.

*Bitcoin accounts are public. If you have the number, @TMZLive
 does, you can see whether the account is empty or not.

I suspect there are several reasons why this case has dominated the news.

It involves (albeit indirectly) a fairly well-known media personality. The media love nothing more than reporting on something that affects or touches upon themselves.

The sketchy circumstances surrounding the reported abduction are mysterious, and the pieces don't all seem to fit together.

People always love a good police drama/crime mystery. See: roughly 1/3 of all TV shows.

The abduction of a loved family member is a singularly frightening and terrifying thought. Unless it's your ex-wife, I suppose. But I did say "loved".

The only way anyone would pay is if there is proof of life - and I think that is pretty unlikely at this point.

Didn't Trump suggest that big news about this would be coming out soon, implying the FBI knows something beyond what has been published?

Taking the video at face value it would appear that they have no idea who did this and are begging for help.  Unless this video has some other meaning.  :shrug:  Heck, mom may be sipping margarita's on the beach somewhere....who knows at this point.
