In Islam, alcohol is haram (forbidden), primarily because it is intoxicating.  The prohibition is based on clear rulings from the Quran and Hadith.

Quranic Evidence:

Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:90-91) states: "Intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan. So avoid it that you may be successful."
Surah Al-Baqarah (2:219) acknowledges some benefits of alcohol but emphasizes that "the sin of them is greater than their benefit."
Hadith Evidence:

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Every intoxicant is khamr, and every khamr is haram."
Another narration states: "Whoever drinks alcohol in this worldly life and does not repent, it will be forbidden for him in the Hereafter."
Key Islamic Ruling:

Any substance that can cause intoxication is haram, even in small amounts.
The prohibition applies regardless of the source (grapes, dates, grains, etc.) or the form (beer, wine, spirits).
Even non-intoxicating traces of alcohol in food or medicine are permitted if they are not derived from khamr and do not cause intoxication.

The company eStCru LLC had a Maryland direct wine shippers permit, DW-80316, which was issued in 2021 and expired in 2023.  The MD govt website currently shows the permit status as “closed”.

It also indicates that the company was at 1160 Hopper Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95403-1651

The LLC itself was formed in CA in 2020 according to the CA secretary of states website. The current registered agent is Lucas Noble.  As of 2022, the managers were William Hailer and Timothy Mynett, with contact addresses at 400 Capitol Mall, Floor 8, Sacramento, CA 95814, and the claimed type of business was “winery”.

The CA entity number is 202018810577

According to the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, the LLC has a wine producers permit number CA-W-23874, and a listed address of 1160 Hopper Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. 

In CA, the company was licensed by the Alcohol Beverage Control department, but the license appears to have automatically expired in 2024.  License number is 619701.  Hailer and Mynett are listed as the officers.

Mynett and Hailer appear to have been previously involved in accusations of investor fraud.

New info on Ilhan Omar’s husband’s investment firm not paying taxes. He & his partner had to forfeit their Rose Lake Inc. registration in Delaware in 2024 for failing to pay a big $403K in back taxes plus having no registration agent. This is right as Omar was claiming in her disclosures his stake in it was suddenly worth up to $25M from less than $1K a year before.

How does a firm that is supposedly worth $75M-$150M not able to pay its taxes?

And D.C. cancelled the registration for Rose Lake Capital, too, for failure to pay a tiny $1,770 in back taxes. Again—why couldn’t it afford even that?

There’s little to no public evidence of real business activity here.

There’s no verifiable public track record of Rose Lake actually managing money for outside investors, completing transactions, or generating meaningful revenue. 

No publicly disclosed clients, investment deals, portfolios, or transactions have been identified for Rose Lake Capital.

No SEC filings (e.g., Form ADV) show Rose Lake or its principals registered as investment advisers — which most firms with outside investors are required to file. 

Government financial disclosures show Rose Lake reported little or no income for 2024, the year Omar listed it with a huge valuation of up to $25M from less than $1,000 just the year before.

Media reports state Rose Lake’s public website removed the names and bios of its listed officers and advisers amid scrutiny.

As for his winery where Omar suddenly valued his stake in at $5M in 2024 up from $15K-50K in 2023 - there is no clear public evidence the winery even exists, or produces or sells significant wine.

There are no signs of a functioning winery facility, tasting room, or production operations at the supposed address.

An investor sued Mynett and his partner alleging they promised to triple his investment in the winery but failed to deliver returns, he claimed in his suit “there is no legitimate business there.” @x

Lying to the infidels is not "just fine" except for a small number of extremists.

But getting a license to produce alcohol would most likely be haram, the same as actually producing it.
