Currently, nearly 10,000 troops and 1,000 engineer troops from North Korea are deployed in the Kursk region.

Ukraine recaptured 201 square kilometres (78 square miles) from Russia between Wednesday and Sunday last week, leveraging a Starlink shutdown for Russian forces, according to an AFP analysis of data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The recaptured area is almost equivalent to the Russian gains for the entire month of December and is the most land retaken by Kyiv’s forces in such a short period since a counter-offensive that began in June 2023.

“These Ukrainian counterattacks are likely leveraging the recent block on Russian forces’ access to Starlink, which Russian milbloggers (military bloggers) have claimed is causing communications and command and control issues on the battlefield,” the ISW, which collaborates with the Critical Threats Project, another US think-tank, stated.

Units of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces have struck Russian military infrastructure in occupied territories, destroying a storage site for an Iskander missile system and a remote piloting point of the “Rubikon” unit.

The Special Operations Forces reported on February 17 that the strikes were carried out using FP-2 drones against rear and operational facilities of Russian forces on temporarily occupied territory.

In the village of Pasichne in the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukrainian forces hit a storage site for an operational-tactical Iskander missile system. Powerful explosions were recorded at the impact site.

“A remote piloting post of the “Rubikon” unit was destroyed in the village of Vysoke in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. Several drones reached their target,” the statement read.

According to the Special Operations Forces, between February 9 and 14 their units struck more than 10 Russian military facilities in occupied areas. These included troop concentration sites, ammunition depots, fuel and lubricant storage facilities, military vehicle parking areas,  .  .  .
