A teen charged in connection with multiple vehicle pursuits and a fatal crash in Laredo faces several felony counts, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Saul Garcia Rodriguez, 17, a Mexican national, was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of smuggling of persons causing death, DPS said.
Garcia Rodriguez was also charged with three counts of smuggling of persons causing serious bodily injury, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, escape from custody and evading arrest, according to DPS.
The charges stem from an early-morning vehicle pursuit tied to suspected human smuggling that ended in a crash, killing two migrants from Honduras and Mexico, DPS said.
Garcia Rodriguez later escaped custody and was involved in additional pursuits across the city, according to DPS.
