Bronx dad deported day before Christmas; Family starts new year separated

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A Bronx family is beginning the new year in heartbreak.

Their father, who lived in the United States for roughly three decades, was deported one day before Christmas following an immigration check-in at Federal Plaza in Manhattan.

The family said Seydou Otara had routinely reported to federal immigration authorities for years. But during a check-in in October, he went inside and never came back out.

“He always put us first and did everything for us,” said daughter Ouleye Ouattara, who has spent the last few months trying to keep the family together.

Ouattara came to the U.S. from the Ivory Coast in 1994 on a student visa. In 2007, authorities detained him for overstaying his visa but later released him under supervision. His daughters said he complied with immigration requirements, worked as a taxi driver six days a week, raised his family, and built a life in New York.

But didn't care enough to become a citizen.

 So?
[H]umanity repeats the worst mistakes of previous generations and ... every free, prosperous civilization will eventually be destroyed by that small fraction of its people who find no satisfaction in anything but anger.

A family that deports together stays together.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.
