BREAKING: Mamdani promises new era of 'collectivism' for NYC in ominous inauguration speech
"I was elected as a Democratic socialist, and I will govern as a Democratic socialist," Mamdani said.

New York City Zohran Mamdani said that he is going to replace the culture of "rugged individualism" with a culture of "collectivism" in New York City during his inauguration speech on Thursday. He said that he was "elected as a democratic socialist" and will "govern as a democratic socialist.”

"We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism. If our campaign demonstrated that the people of New York yearn for solidarity, then let this government foster it," Mamdani said.

"Because no matter what you eat, how you pray or where you come from, the words that most define us are the two we all share, New Yorkers," he then added. Mamdani then went on and focused on reforming a "long broken property tax system." During his campaign, his policy included a proposal to increase property taxes to "whiter neighborhoods."

According to the campaign proposal, to "fix the property system" in the Big Apple, Mamdani vowed to "shift the tax burden from overtaxed homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods."

I think he is mistaking the fires of hell for the "warmth of collectivism".
He doesn't believe in American exceptionalism and NY has fallen......

This guy is a character from an Ayn Rand novel.

Here's the "warmth of collectivism":

"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

The free shit crowed has surpassed critical mass in New York city...

Now they're going to live the consequences of it. Unfortunately, it takes a while to run out of other people's money before large scale poverty and crime sets in.

Some insights from Christian apologist Natasha Crain (posted on her Facebook page):

A lot of people are talking about how crazy it is that Mamdani would be talking about the "warmth of collectivism" when communism is responsible for the death of millions of people. And it is, indeed, crazy. But let's not miss the important fact that his audience is cheering him on--and they're not cheering for what THEY perceive to be an ideology of death. So what's the disconnect? It's really important to understand...

For those struggling to survive in the present social/economic context of NYC, the idea that each person is responsible for themself and can get ahead through hard work and independence feels like an unattainable ideal--one that perhaps successfully flew under the label of the American dream in the past but is no longer applicable. Having been immersed in the progressive notion that social systems are stacked against entire groups of people, the idea that individuals can and should be responsible for their well-being is seen as the deception of those in power for the purpose of remaining in power. When they hear "rugged individualism," this is their conceptual backdrop.

And if that's your backdrop, what's your solution? Revolutionize government systems to ensure equality of OUTCOME for everyone. From this perspective, it's the search for the good of all--the "warmth of collectivism." Social systems will supposedly no longer hold people down because the new system will be engineered to be the great equalizer (in theory).

In short, the nature of our current social systems is seen as the problem limiting individual success ("rugged individualism"), so the corresponding solution is changing those systems for the equalized outcome of all ("collectivism").

Those who understand the nature of socialism/communism and the sordid history of the many attempts to implement them are rightly horrified that any elected leader could stand up and be cheered on for promoting such a disastrous political philosophy. But we shouldn't be mystified by it at all.

This is the result of critical theory-based thinking that has been pushed incessantly through every level of education (K-12 and college) for decades.

It's taken many years of societal indoctrination to get to a point where large swaths of the population literally don't care about the death toll attributed to socialism or communism in practice. They simply think current government systems are their own form of evil that must be eradicated.

The election of Mamdani isn't a fluke. It's just the beginning.

If there is a person in NYC that owns a successful business, you are about to lose it.

Better cash out and leave beforehand.

Too late to cash out.  Mafia couldn't cash out after Castro took Cuba.

Smart New Yorkers are already elsewhere preserving their wealth and putting their capital to work.

Only people to be left in NYC will be those too poor to move and those too stupid to move.

Everyone loves free stuff until the commies come to confiscate THEIR stuff.

I have a couple of nieces who are from rural Texas and now live in Manhattan and would not live anywhere else for any reason.

they both are highly educated but fit the 'too stupid to move' category.

Am quite sure they vote Democrat in every election so I regard them as 'highly stupid'

His fake "look at me, a regular Joe, riding the subway to go to work" photo op was pathetic, too.
