Cake was one of my favorite bands from that era and his licks were perfect fits for the music. You'll still see me grooving along any time "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" pops up on the radio.

Can't tell you how much I love this song. Half a dozen different polyrhythms complimentary but working like pistons in an engine. Genius is an overused term, but definitely alot of that in this.

Continued prayers for you. It's been over 4 years since Mrs. Joe passed suddenly after having had some health issues we'd finally sorted out.

Duvall, who received an Academy Award — one of his seven Oscar nominations — for his performance as an alcoholic country singer in Tender Mercies (1983), died Sunday at home on his Virginia ranch, his wife, Luciana, announced.

To me, he was simply everything,” she said in a statement. “His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. RIP, Robert Duvall. He was a tremendously gifted actor. His Godfather and Apocalypse Now performances were, of course legendary. But he was also wonderful in films like The Great Santini - my father (also an Air Force vet) just adored that film.

RIP to Robert Duvall. One of his roles that isn't often talked about, but I liked a lot, is his portrayal of the harried police sergeant Prendergast who tracks down Michael Douglas' character "DEFENS" in the 1993 movie "Falling Down":

I don't recall any bad movies in which Robert Duvall appeared. Lonesome Dove is one for the ages IMHO. Rest in peace Mr. Duvall.

What a great actor in so many films. I had no idea he was 95. My favorite was "Gus" in Lonesome Dove.
