Three men who escaped a Georgia jail were arrested Monday in Florida and have been accused of hijacking a Lyft ride-share and kidnapping the driver after putting a rope around her neck, according to a criminal complaint.
The three men, Stevenson Charles, 24, Yusuf Minor, 31, and Naod Yohannes, 25, escaped DeKalb County Jail, about 10 miles east of Atlanta on Sunday, the Mirror U.S. previously reported.
The three got a Lyft rideshare that was requested by a woman, according to the driver. Prosecutors said Minor’s girlfriend called the Lyft, the complaint read.
After the Lyft driver unlocked the vehicle for the trio to exit, one of the men wrapped a rope around her neck from the back, the complaint read. The driver’s name or age is unknown.
The complaint states the driver was dragged to the backseat of the vehicle and was told to keep her head down and eyes closed. The complaint said the three threatened to kill, rape and torture her. She was kidnapped for 10 hours, the document said.
