The Department of Justice's efforts to release all of its files related to Jeffrey Epstein's and Ghislaine Maxwell's sex trafficking cases by the legal deadline fell short of expectations on Friday, resulting in complaints ranging from technological glitches to excessive redactions and missing documents.

Just after 3 p.m., the highly anticipated website containing the documents went live with a message informing visitors they were "in line." The page never advanced and would occasionally crash. Once the files became visible, some people were reporting that they still could not access the website.

"Got me waiting in line for these Epstein files like it’s a 2019 Yeezy drop," one user wrote on X.

The law required that the files be searchable, but New York University law professor Ryan Goodman was among those who observed that the search bar feature on the website was also not reliably capturing content. Some on the left pointed out that President Donald Trump’s name was initially not showing up in any of the documents. Trump was one of many of Epstein’s affluent friends before Epstein faced charges. The search bar appeared to be working as of Friday night.

The most common criticism, however, focused on what critics described as an incomplete release and extensive redactions. The DOJ has said it was required to redact information that could identify victims or minors.

In a letter to Congress, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche touted the DOJ's effort to fulfill its obligations under the Epstein Files Transparency Act as "historic."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., demanded that Attorney General Pam Bondi immediately leave her post for releasing an entirely redacted grand jury document in the Epstein files document dump.

"Now the coverup is out in the open,” Ocasio-Cortez said on X. "This is far from over. Everyone involved will have to answer for this. Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, whole admin.”

“Protecting a bunch of rapists and pedophiles because they have money, power, and connections,” she continued. “Bondi should resign tonight.”

The 119-page document in question is one of many that is heavily redacted within the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) dump on Friday night, which has drawn heavy criticism from congressional Democrats and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., the main antagonist in pushing Bondi and the DOJ to release all documents and materials related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Several lawmakers, including Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., have threatened consequences against the DOJ for not complying with the law, specifically for not providing explanations for redactions.

Though AOC is a liberal drama queen this is one issue that I agree with her on.  Bondi's resignation is needed.

That's never going to happen unless Trump fires her.  She not only makes the DOJ look bad but ultimately she makes Trump look bad as well.

Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law in November 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is mandated to release all unclassified records related to Jeffrey Epstein. However, specific categories of information are legally prohibited from release or may be redacted.   

Permitted Withholdings.—
(1) The Attorney general may withhold or redact the segregable portions of records that—
(A) contain personally identifiable information of victims or victims’ personal and medical files and similar files the disclosure of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy;
(B) depict or contain child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) as defined under 18 U.S.C. 2256 and prohibited under 18 U.S.C. 2252–2252A;
(C) would jeopardize an active federal investigation or ongoing prosecution, provided that such withholding is narrowly tailored and temporary;
(D) depict or contain images of death, physical abuse, or injury of any person; or
(E) contain information specifically authorized under criteria established by an Executive order to be kept secret in the interest of national defense or foreign policy and are in fact properly classified pursuant to such Executive order.

(2) All redactions must be accompanied by a written justification published in the Federal Register and submitted to Congress.

(3) To the extent that any covered information would otherwise be redacted or withheld as classified information under this section, the Attorney General shall declassify that classified information to the maximum extent possible.
(A) Determination.
If the Attorney General makes a determination that covered information may not be declassified and made available in a manner that protects the national security of the United States, including methods or sources related to national security, the Attorney General shall release an unclassified summary for each of the redacted or withheld classified information.

(4) Effective date.
All decisions to classify any covered information after July 1, 2025 shall be published in the Federal Register and submitted to Congress, including the date of classification, the identity of the classifying authority, and an unclassified summary of the justification.

Honestly, somewhat curious, but I have drawn my own conclusions as to 'guilty' participants quite awhile ago.  I think it is very doubtful that anyone is going to be held accountable.

One thing that I am confident in, is that appointing Bondi as the AG was a mistake.  Trump keeps her on which leaves me with an unsettled feeling.

DOJ has not said why these files were removed from its website. The Hill has reached out to DOJ for comment.

The department initially told the public on its website that if it released information that “includes non-public personally identifiable information or other sensitive content, to include matters of a sexual nature,” then the public should contact DOJ if they find any “information that should not have been posted,” and officials will “take steps to correct the problem as soon as possible.”

It is not clear if that is why some files were removed, though attorney Gloria Allred, during an appearance on CNN Saturday afternoon, said she had been contacted by people who said their information should not have been posted.

Files now missing from DOJ’s “Epstein Library” webpage included images of paintings depicting nude women and a series of photographs showing a desk with drawers, the AP wrote. The files were available upon their release Friday and were no longer accessible the next day.

One photo of the desk included two pictures inside an open drawer that featured Trump. The first printed picture shows Trump surrounded by a group of women in bathing suits. The second partially covered photo shows Trump with first lady Melania Trump, Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell in 2000.

It is no secret that Epstein spent some time at Mar A Lago which would explain photos of him, Trump and Melania.  Trump broke ties with Epstein soon afterwards.

A spokesperson for Bill Clinton accused the White House late on Friday of using him as a scapegoat after pictures of the former president with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as with a young woman in a pool, were included as part of congressionally ordered release of government files.

“The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton,” the spokesperson said in a statement on X.

“This is about shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever. So they can release as many grainy 20-plus-year-old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. Never has, never will be,” the statement added.

It continued: “Even Susie Wiles said Donald Trump was wrong about Bill Clinton,” it said, referring to comments made by White House chief of staff to Vanity Fair in which Wiles acknowledged that Clinton had not been on Epstein’s Caribbean island despite repeated claims by Trump to the contrary.

Clinton has long maintained that he cut ties with Epstein around 2005, before the disgraced financier plead guilty to solicitation of a minor in Florida.

Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election. To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.

The Epstein files has been an ongoing story and the press and DEMS are having a field day with it.

No one is going to be held responsible, so this is to me a frivolous waste of time. Start prosecuting people and organizations for what they did to these young girls and it will be newsworthy, otherwise, this is no longer newsworthy.  Just my opinion.

Unless these documents and photos clearly show Trump, Clinton, Gates, a member of Congress, Supreme Court Justice or anyone else (besides Epstein) sexually abusing minors, exactly what are we looking for? That Bill Clinton and Ghislaine Maxwell - an adult woman - shared a hot tub on at least one occasion is not terribly important. I remember when it was speculated that the two of them had something going on. Why Hillary allowed her to attend Chelsea's wedding is a mystery.

That Trump and Epstein may have attended the same event 25 years ago is ... even less important.

We already knew Bill Clinton's a horndog. We already knew Jeffrey Epstein had sex with underage females.
