He's rump!

Classic sign of a stroke here.  This is from September, and he has made a number of bizarre unfiltered comments since.  Frequent bruising of the hand, and swollen ankles.  He is unwell.

The Biden WH should have pressured Joe into retiring in 2024, but they did a commendable job of hiding his dementia from the public.  This WH has a tough row to hoe --- Donald is going to be a terrible patient.

Let me know when Trump (or anyone else) makes a statement or posts a tweet celebrating Reiner's death like leftists did with Charlie Kirk.  Sure, Trump's statement was classless and self-centered.  But he didn't say he was glad Reiner was dead, or that he deserved it, or any other such celebration.  Personally, after all the vile that Reiner had thrown his way over the years, I would say that his comment by Trump standards what quite mundane.

Rooting through some of that archive in CL's post, here are my summaries of some Rob Reiner Twitter posts at https://web.archive.org/web/20240726003551/https://x.com/robreiner :

On May 31, 2020, Reiner claimed Trump was responsible for 105K dead and 40M unemployed due to Covid.

On July 1, 2020 Reiner posted that it was time for Trump to exit the WH and enter prison.

On January 6, 2021, that Trump should be arrested for sedition, treason, and inciting violence.

On April 5, 2020, that Trump is mentally ill.

On May 31, 2020, that Trump can't address the nation about racism or >100K dead of Covid.

On July 5, 2020, that Trump is a symbol of hate.

On June 28, 2020, that people who support Trump are racists because Trump is a racist.

On January 30, 2021, that Trump incited an Insurrection to overthrow the US government.

Moving past a bunch of less crazy railings ...

On July 13, 2020, that Trump is murdering Americans (Covid)

On July 11, 2020, that Trump is a White Supremacist, and that people who support Trump are White Supremacists

On November 17, 2018, that Trump is a F'ing (Reiner spelled it out) moron for calling for raking forest floors (Reiner is too ignorant to know that Trump referred to a very real underbrush management tool).

On August 14, 2020, that Trump is a F'ing criminal.

On July 2, 2020, that Trump is a stone cold racist who is running as a proud White Supremacist.

On June 27, 2020, that Trump committed Treason.

I ran out of patience half way through Reiner's hateful sludge. What Trump posted was entirely inappropriate, but the scores or hundreds of very public hateful Reiner comments calling Trump a murderer, Treasonous, and having attempted to overthrow the US government are the context.

Reiner specifically and personally attacked Trump for a decade in the most hateful terms. Not generically, not over politics, but personally and repeatedly.

So, if Trump wants to give his condolences - which he did - while pointing out Reiner's actions - which he accurately recited - that's fine. You can posture your fussy fake virtue if you want, but it's embarassing

Trump didn't have to comment on the passing of a Hollywood celebrity.  Leave that for the Internet trolls.

Exactly. Reiner was a far left Hollyweirdo. There are many. DJT is the president of US.

DJT still hasn't learned that saying nothing can sometimes say more.

Whatever the case, Reiner and his wife's murder were horrific. Made worse by the fact it was done by their child. Nobody deserves that.

Agreed...  he is (was) one of a large contingent of Hollywood commies who have continuously smeared not  only Trump, but anyone right of center,.

But....  I will agree with most of the Briefers here, that Trump's comments were an unforced error, making him look terribly bad.  Silence would have been a better option.

Rob Reiner is dead. So is his wife. It was violent. It was ugly. And it’s tragic in the technical sense of the word. But let’s not do the dishonest thing where we pretend this man suddenly deserves reverence because he’s gone.

No tears will be lost here.

For decades, Reiner made a career out of sneering at half the country, smearing anyone who disagreed with him as stupid, evil, or dangerous. He didn’t just criticize policies, he dehumanized people. He mocked them. He wished ruin on them. And he did it loudly, smugly, and without apology.
Now that he’s gone, the same people who cheered that behavior want silence, grace, and decorum. They want critics to suddenly discover compassion they were never allowed to have themselves. Funny how that works.

This isn’t celebration. It’s accounting.

A person’s death doesn’t erase the damage they spent a lifetime doing. It doesn’t magically convert cruelty into courage or arrogance into virtue. Legacy isn’t written at the moment of death, it’s written in the years before it. And Rob Reiner’s public life deserves to be remembered exactly as it was, divisive, contemptuous, and fueled by an open hatred for people he considered beneath him. No canonization. No forced mourning.
Just the truth, plain, uncomfortable, and earned. One less Meathead....

Nolte: RIP Rob Reiner (1947-2025) — One of the Hollywood Greats

https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2025/12/15/nolte-rip-rob-reiner-1947-2025-one-of-the-hollywood-greats/

Quote
It’s unfortunate that those under the age of 40 will likely remember Reiner only as a divisive and boorish political activist. His decade on social media where he obsessively ranted against anyone who dared disagree with him, was not a pleasant thing to witness, especially his attacks on President Donald Trump and Trump’s supporters.

Thankfully, those of us of a certain age can remember him based on our first impression, as one of the Hollywood greats, a man who delivered two decades of iconic entertainment.

Rob Reiner might have been comedy legend Carl Reiner’s son, but this was no nepo baby. Born in 1947, he paid his dues guest-starring on the popular TV shows of the time (That Girl, Gomer Pyle, etc.) and writing for the era’s hippest show on television, The Smothers Brothers.

In 1971, he landed a co-starring role in what would quickly become one of the most popular and game-changing TV shows in pop culture history: All in the Family, where he played the flawed but likable Mike “Meathead” Stivic, a counterbalance to his Nixon-loving father-in-law, Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Connor). ...
...
Then, in 1984, it all came together for Reiner. This run might be unprecedented… Starting with his feature debut, Reiner directed seven popular feature films in a row, many of them iconic, all of them entertaining and timeless.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
The Sure Thing (1985)
Stand By Me (1986)
The Princes Bride (1987)
When Harry Met Sally… (1989)
Misery (1990)
A Few Good Men (1992)
...
In the decades after, Reiner had a couple of hits — The American President (1995), The Bucket List (2007) — but there was something missing in his work as he became increasingly engrossed in partisan politics.

Reiner threw himself into the 2024 presidential election, including producing God & Country, a hyper-partisan documentary warning about the deadly threat of “Christian nationalism.” Then President Trump won reelection, and Reiner chose to retreat from social media entirely.

Earlier this year, he released a sequel to Spinal Tap and, in general, seemed more at peace with himself during interviews and public appearances.

After the murder of Charlie Kirk, the memorable and welcome humanity and grace Reiner displayed was the exact opposite of what we saw from most Democrats and leftists…

Well, I'm closer to 2 times 40 than 40, but I did not watch much TV in the 70s, and when his big hit movies were released, my kids were toddlers, preschoolers, and in primary grades. So despite my age, I don't have much attachment or nostalgia for his strongest work. I actually mainly remember, of his Hollywood work, his supporting part in the chick-flick "Sleepless in Seattle", for which he was not the director.

What I do have strong memories of is his abrasive and sometimes slanderous hyper-partisan rantings. I wasn't aware that he had tried the "Christian Nationalism" shtick too, for which I would have been one of his 10s of millions of targets. People who know more of the movie world are free to set me straight, but it sounds like he got sucked into partisan politics through the Clintons, drank their and other Dem leaders' koolaid by the 55-gallon drum, and left a lot of his creativity on a dusty shelf.
I am not and never have been a leftist.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

The entire Reiner family was like that, though. He, his daughter Romy, and even his father Carl before his own demise all have filled their social media with those partisan screeds, almost interchangeably with one another. Why? Darned if I know.

Rob Reiner and wife murdered: Timeline shows argument with son night before deaths

Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead inside their Brentwood home on Sunday.

As of Monday, Reiner's son Nick remained behind bars without bail as authorities continued investigating the stabbing of the acclaimed Hollywood director and his wife.

Family friends of Rob and Michele Reiner told the Los Angeles Times that Nick got into an argument with his parents at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party Saturday evening. Many people noticed Nick was behaving strangely, according to the outlet.

Read more about the events leading up to the Reiners' deaths.

"A Few Good Men" was another excellent movie and I had no idea he directed.

I tend to agree,  Pete. I'm not a movie fan, and I hated "All in the Family," and so cannot attest to his brilliance.  Mostly,  he struck me as hateful and obnoxious. I certainly don't celebrate  his death, however, and would not react in Trump manner. Sorry his son was so screwed up. Sorry they didn't know Jesus.

That's nice. Myself, if I see a Hamas scarf on someone's neck, a Che Guevara t-shirt, a Little Red Book in their hand, that's what I need to know about that person and I consider that person to be a clear and present danger.

See, I'm not interested in having a civil discourse with people who hold political opinions that include killing people like me.
 Right. I have no more chance of convincing them their beliefs are messed up than I have of stopping the gender dysphorics from running around waving their pronouns. I'm not even sure civil discourse is an option with many of those folks.

I agree with you, Luis.

As for President Trump and his comments, I know his stock currency is to strike back or lash out at those who insult him personally or politically. Many times, that has served him well. There are times, however, showing grace or statesmanship is the better course. He failed badly by making this horror about him. To me, it is disgraceful to him and his Presidency.

Trump didn't have to comment on the passing of a Hollywood celebrity.  Leave that for the Internet trolls.

Others have pointed out the inconsistencies with this -

(1) The "Obamas" haven't been seen together in many months, why would they get together now?

(2) Would the Secret Service even allow a visit by them to a house with a known violent drug-using son?

IOW, it sounds fake ...

Mrs. Liberty and I agree wholeheartedly with you.  If something about the O'Bastards can't be corroborated, it's almost certainly a lie.  Same with the Clintons.

There is no way the Secret Service would allow them to be in close proximity to the lunatic son of the Reiners!

I guess I will be in a minority here, but I hated "All in the Family"... Archie was portrayed as an idiot that couldn't hold a conversation about anything politically without sounding like a bigot. He was played as just as big a meathead as Rob.

I didn't like "All in the Family" either. Avoided it. Stanford and Son was more my speed though I haven't seen it for decades... Don't know if it aged well or not...

I will. Reiner was a hateful, vicious communist hypocrite.

His movies IMHO used overt sentimentality and emotion to camouflage messages that were extremely destructive to society.

Reiner, his father, and the people around them were the Enemies Within of whom Cicero spoke.

Reiner was not nearly as corrosive and destructive as his America-hating mentor Norman Lear but I will give him credit for trying.

And, kudos to the President for having the guts to speak the truth before Reiner's edited hagiography is cast in stone.

It's too bad that some left-wing nut-job with a gun ruined your dinner plans, Moochelle.

Norman Lear paved the way for today's defamation, e.g., the stereotypes of conservatives and Christians on Dick Wolf's "Law & Order" shows.

Agree with everything except the commendable job Democrats did  in hiding Joe Biden’s dementia from the public

It was obvious long before that June 2024 debate that there was something wrong with Joe Biden

As the sun begins to set on the MAGA movement, I expect even more tweets like this from Donald Trump along with more Republicans defying him

As far as that picture goes, could be a stroke, or something else.

I remember it as a kid and I have seen it and reruns and I guess my take is different

In my opinion, they didn’t portray Archie as the idiot and meathead as the intelligent one

To me, it was more of their conflict around their different political opinions

Archie Bunker was the typical working class portrayal of that era. And meathead wasn’t exactly an overachiever either.
Still, it wasn’t my cup of tea

I think Lear portrayed Archie as an idiot. He couldn't defend one position from the beginning. Occasionally Bunker would make a decent point, but it was few and far between.

Here is the introduction of Meathead to the show... It sets the pattern.

???  How about as far as the pictures goes, it's a bad picture???  Not necessarily he's had a stroke and unwell. He's works tirelessly, is still running the country, getting done what he's says he's going to do and has more energy and stamina the most much younger than him.

So in other words, ignore our own eyes

This is the guy that’s been caught many times, on camera, falling asleep and cabinet meetings

The Biden WH claimed the same  and it didn’t work. Voters didn’t buy it then and they’re not gonna buy it now.

One picture of him with a side droop  isn’t enough. But in combination with everything else, you can paint a picture of something going on

But, back on topic. Prayers out and sympathy for Mr. Reiner’s family.

Agreed.
