Two found dead at L.A. home owned by director Rob Reiner
Paramedics were dispatched to the filmmaker's home at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

LOS ANGELES — Two people were found dead at the home of director Rob Reiner on Sunday, law enforcement officials confirmed to NBC News.

A man and woman, ages 78 and 68, were found deceased inside, according to NBC Los Angeles, which first reported the news, citing multiple law enforcement sources.

Paramedics were called to the Brentwood home on the west side of L.A. around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and a few minutes later police officers were dispatched.

LOS ANGELES — Two people have been found stabbed to death inside the Brentwood home of legendary director Rob Reiner in an incident that has sent shockwaves through Hollywood, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to The Post.

Officers were called to the home Sunday afternoon, where they discovered a man and woman with stab wounds, according to cops and sources.

It’s currently unclear who the victims are, but the Los Angeles Fire Department told NBC Los Angeles that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found dead inside the home.

The ages match those of Reiner and his wife, Michele.

The LAFD paramedics rushed to the home around 3:30 p.m. Shortly after, officers with the LAPD responded to the home following reports of an “ambulance death investigation,” the outlet reported.

Detectives from LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division were also at the scene, a spokesperson for the department said. A knife is believed to have been used in the attack, sources said.

Officers had the street blocked off in front of Reiner’s house, and detectives could be seen going in and out of the residence.

The Post reporters at the scene observed Reiner’s home decked out in holiday decor.  .  .  .

As much as I dislike Rob, this sorta takes the air out of sails in just how twisted an ending he and his wife had. One couldn't write such an episode without considering it being another ironic plot in a Fargo series sequel.

As it is good to speak well of the dead, let's remember that Reiner directed The Princess Bride which a lot of us, myself and Sen. Cruz included, like so well that we can lapse into extended quotations from it whenever one seems a propos.  He also directed a lot of other good films.

So let's ignore Reiner's politics and mourn the loss of a good film director.

The Princess Bride is in my top 3 favorite movies. So for that, I am truly saddened. What a horrible thing for the surviving children to have to deal with.

Nick Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele Reiner, has been taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department following the deaths of his parents. He is being held on $4 million bond.

"All in the Family" was one of my favorite sitcoms.

As for "The Princess Bride".  Not one of my favorites, but my daughter loved it and I'd say she watched it a least a half dozen times.

Reiner was in many ways your typical Hollywood leftist (son of a NYC jewish actor), but unlike most, he was very talented.  He took on a diverse range of films and made them popular.  Some of his side projects were left wing/subversive, but in general, he sought to make excellent movies.
