Is file sharing still a big thing on today's Internet? Sending files to another device, your own or from someone else, may still be something that you need to do from time to time. Maybe you need to move some documents to another PC, share some photos with family members, or make sure your uncle in Australia or Japan gets the latest 4K video of the last family get-together.

Whatever it is, plenty of options are available today. From using cloud-services and file sharing sites to sending files via mail or using apps. Sometimes, you may need something that is private. That usually means end-to-end encryption or another form of encryption, if the files get transferred over the Internet.

AltSendMe is a free open source tool for file transfers between two PCs running Windows, macOS or Linux. It is easy to use and uses end-to-encryption.

Here are its main features:

Transfer files or folders of any size.
Cross-platform sharing between Linux, macOS and Windows.
    No account needed.
    Encryption from start to finish.
    Open source.
Works on (same) LAN and Internet.

I'm still blown away by the mathematic simplicity of RSA.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

And NSA whose multi-billion dollar mission is to capture, break, and recover all electronic encrypted transmissions worldwide is on vacation, twiddling its collective thumbs, sitting this one out, and so forth.

Yes, never be deceived by the illusion. Chances are this remote independent developer could even work for Navy Intelligence Command. Just like the illusion that the TOR network is actually private. If the Navy designed TOR, then you can bet the Navy has a built in backdoor. But one thing this has going for it is that it is open source and can be audited. Someone will be hollering pretty quick if they find any vulnerabilities. I'm personally very critical of "privacy" claims but from what I am reading so far about this I'll rate it a 9 out of 10...

BTW, AltSendMe is not available at the GoogleStore on my PC.  I wonder if it can be obtained from the developer?

Oh yes sorry, I should have mentioned it is linked in the article text at the source. But you may want to go read that article. There are some notes about using it on windows if you do use windows.

But here is the direct download from the Dev... Looks like he has it set to autodetect your OS for they right brand of download. Click on the Logo on the top left to get home there.

As a former NIC guy once commented to me, " The is no Intelligence in Naval Command."

Lol, I have heard that before too. And not just the Navy, I have heard that about every government classification. But I cannot claim to personally know, just what I have heard from others.
