Working Americans will soon get ‘very large refunds’ of up to $2K per household: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent

Christmas could be coming twice.

Working Americans are going to get “very large refunds” of $1,000 to $2,000 per household early in the new year, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The checks will come in the first quarter of 2026 as a result of tax cuts in President Donald Trump’s sweeping, budget-focused One Big Beautiful Bill Act, he said.

“I think we’re going to see $100-$150 billion of refunds, which could be between $1,000, $2,000 per household,” Bessent said Wednesday.

Several provisions in the legislation, including auto-deductibility and no tax on tips, are to thank for the payday, he said.

Americans with jobs have not yet adjusted their tax withholding, so many will receive refunds next year, he said.

A "refund" on what?  One would first have to pay something to get a 'refund' on it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

This will be the signature of any check.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Whatever.  I really don't care anymore.    Trump is a chump. Talks out his ass.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
More cotton candy for the masses, 57% of which pay ZERO INCOME TAXES.  This carnival barker is getting old.  His 1,000 THAT-A-BOYS get destroyed by moronic stunts he likes to pull.  Perhaps he does have good intentions.  Perhaps he is getting poorly advised.  But I cannot imagine Steven Miller supporting any of these nonsense ideas.

Everyone needs to write the President and inform him what they think.  Perhaps it results in nothing.  But enough emails claiming they hate the notions he is putting forward will have him come up with OTHER IDEAS, like a BALANCED BUDGET.

If the clowns of Washington worked to balance the budget, they would balance it.  Enough of the business as usual.

This POTUS wants to revive this nation and get it on solid footing, then BALANCE THE DAMN BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!!

PUT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION FORWARD REQUIRING IT!!!!!
