Is There a ‘Sleeping Giant’ to Awaken As China Builds for War?

On December 7, 1941, the United States officially entered WWII with the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Japan struck Pearl Harbor with six aircraft carriers and an accompanying fleet, which resulted in 3,581 Americans being either killed or wounded, with numerous military aircraft, ships, and facilities either damaged or destroyed in less than two hours.  Afterwards, Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto reportedly wrote in his diary, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.”

With the great American industrial foundation powered by an extensive energy base, 1941-America was indeed a sleeping giant awakened. The U.S. spent the next four years relentlessly becoming a war machine with one united purpose, to defeat the Axis powers.

Today America’s great industrial base is skeletal at best.  While President Trump is trying to rectify the situation, too many American globalist politicians have lined their pockets through encouraging American companies to invest in foreign nations instead of America.  In 1945, the U.S. produced 67% of the world’s pig iron and 72% of the steel.  By 2014 the U.S. was only producing 2.4% of the pig iron and 5.3% of the world’s steel.  In contrast, by 2021 the Chinese company China Baowu became the world’s top steel producer.

The times aren't equivalent to back then. Not only is gaining territory not required to dominate another nation, drones have altered the equation that big weaponry used to hold the advantage of.

China is trying to do to us what we did to Germany in WWII, out produce and overwhelm us even though most of our stuff is better. Whether that strategy works remains to be seen, I think China sometimes out Sun Tzu's itself in it's mental machinations.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to allow Nvidia to ship a more advanced artificial intelligence chip to China will significantly boost Beijing’s tech capabilities, according to analysts.

That signals a shift in policy as the U.S., over the past several years, has ramped up restrictions on Chinese access to advanced semiconductors. Though the curbs have not kept Chinese companies such as DeepSeek from finding ways to build AI models that rival their U.S. peers, often at lower operating costs.

“Compute is our main advantage,” Rush Doshi, assistant professor at Georgetown University, said on social media platform X, noting that China already has an edge over the U.S. in electrical power, engineers and other areas.

“By giving this up we increase the odds the world runs on Chinese AI,” said Doshi, who was a deputy senior director for China and Taiwan affairs with the National Security Council under the Biden administration.

Trump’s on Monday said in a post on his Truth Social platform that Nvidia can ship a more advanced chip called the H200 to “approved customers in China” and other countries — on condition the U.S. gets a 25% cut. That’s up from the 15% rate agreed to in the summer.

He noted that Nvidia’s more advanced Blackwell and Rubin chips were not part of the China deal.

“The Biden administration forced our Great Companies to spend BILLIONS OF DOLLARS building “degraded” products that nobody wanted, a terrible idea that slowed innovation, and hurt the American Worker,” Trump said.

I noticed that 'X' has become saturated with pro communist, pro CCP, pro China posts comparing night shots of Chinese cities taken from above with street scenes of homeless in the US, proclaiming communism the better deal. On its face, seemingly a poor move.

However, all may not be what it seems.

Here's a thought:
Isn't China supposed to be subversively placing spy devices in components it sells us such as our tv sets and windmill turbines?
Any possibility existing we could do the same in reverse?

China does a lot of Sun Tzu ju-jitsu smoke and mirrors, alot of which is to hide their weaknesses, for example the one you have just stated.

When you get past all their hype and word games, they aren't nearly as strong as they'd like to project. Take for example the recent border skirmish with India. They didn't do so hot, it was a basically a draw.

Unless America collapses, I don't think China is a direct threat to the mainland. They are good at remote string pulling and leverage, they will do things like trying to control Taiwan's chip production to hurt us, or lock up all the rare earths where they can or hack and disrupt our network here.

The biggest threat by China I see is if we have to fight them close to their region of influence. Though i think their military hardware is substandard, they can stamp it out so fast that they are doing to us what we did to Germany in WWII and just overwhelm us.
