2 National Guardsmen critically wounded in 'targeted shooting' blocks from White House

Washington, D.C. was thrust into chaos the day before Thanksgiving when two National Guard members were shot just blocks from the White House. Police said a suspect was in custody. President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time of the shooting.

The gunman accused of shooting two National Guard members blocks from the White House the day before Thanksgiving is 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, three law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Lakanwal, who the Department of Homeland Security confirmed entered the U.S. legally under a humanitarian parole after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, overstayed his visa granted under Operation Allies Welcome.

Authorities are investigating the shooting as a possible act of international terrorism.

FBI officials confirmed the two West Virginia National Guardsmen remain in critical condition.

Top National Guard leaders return to DC from Thanksgiving trip to support fellow guardsmen

 Top National Guard leaders said Wednesday they are returning to Washington, D.C., to support fellow guardsmen in the wake of the attack that left two service members in critical condition.

Lt. Gen. Steven Nordhaus, director of the Air National Guard, and Tony Raines, senior enlisted advisor to the chief of the National Guard Bureau, said they had originally planned to spend the holiday with troops in Guantánamo Bay, according to a video Nordhaus posted on X.

“SEA Raines and I join our entire National Guard family in praying for the recovery of the two West Virginia National Guard heroes who were shot while protecting our nation’s capital today,” Nordhaus wrote in the post.

In the video, Raines added: “The chief and I were planning to spend Thanksgiving with our Guard and Joint Force troops here on Guantánamo Bay, but we’re returning to Washington, D.C., to be with guardsmen there.”

“Our guardsmen are part of the very fabric of our nation," Nordhaus continued. "We are devastated by this senseless act of violence, and we will remain on station to defend and protect our fellow citizens at home and abroad. Guard Nation, I am so very proud and grateful for all that you do.”

From law-enforcement source:

Afghan National, born in 1996, armed with a revolver ambushed a female guardsman, shooting her in the head, and a male guardsman, shot multiple times. They never saw it coming. Both guardsmen were armed.

A Major in the National Guard, who was unarmed and doing his spot checks of the guardsmen was in the block, heard the shots and turned to see the shooter who spotted him. He took cover behind a truck.

The suspect came for the Major who pulled out his pocket knife, and bravely took on the suspect who was reloading his revolver.

The Major began stabbing the suspect in the head.

Another guardsman in the area who was armed, them drew his pistol and shot the suspect twice, once in the leg and once in the buttocks.

The Major stated that when the suspect began shooting he heard him shout, Allahu akbar!”

I just briefed [omitted].

Now, you know too.

There’s more: we trying to confirm if the suspect, an Afghan national was an interpreter brought over by Biden, because he has a Department of Defense record. Again, we are trying to confirm.

The suspect has a home address in Washington State.

The only minor consolation I can think of is no matter what this guy thinks he did 'For Allah', his life is essentially over. Even if he is not killed for it, there is no chance he will ever be a free man again. His functional life ended forever today.

The biggest problem I see, is there almost certainly will be leftwing wacko weirdos, loners, and outcasts (which is almost every Democrat supporter), who will try to imitate this all over the country. ICE and National Guard better be on very high alert.

The Democrats have wanted a war against ICE and on normal civil society with law and order for years. Democrats will do anything to disrupt Trump's accomplishments. Even if it means social chaos, anarchy, and uncontrolled rampant crime.

They want to burn the country down to be able to rule over the ashes. And because Democrats have no laws or rules or self respect, they will do anything, anything at all, to make that happen.

Just from some of the photos I've seen most of the soldiers are carrying 9mm's...ammo?...I don't know.
