Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrives in Washington on Tuesday for his first White House visit in seven years, marking a pivotal moment to rebuild U.S.-Saudi ties and strengthen a partnership that remains central to American security and energy interests.

The visit comes as Trump has publicly confirmed the United States will sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, telling reporters on Monday, "I will say that we will be doing that. We’ll be selling the F-35s," a move that immediately places Israel’s qualitative military edge and the region’s future defense architecture at the center of the conversation.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital that "President Trump looks forward to welcoming Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the White House, where the two leaders will participate in an official working visit. Thanks to our Dealmaker-in-Chief, the United States secured $600 billion in historic investments during the President’s visit to Saudi Arabia earlier this year, and Americans can expect more good deals for our country spanning technology, manufacturing, critical minerals, defense, and more."

A senior administration official, speaking on background, told Fox News Digital that the expected agreements will include a multibillion-dollar investment in America’s AI infrastructure, enhanced cooperation on civil nuclear energy and defense sales aimed at strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries.

In Saudi Arabia, the visit is being seen as historic. Aziz Alghashian, a lecturer in international relations at Naif Arab University in Riyadh, said there is "a lot of excitement. The Saudis have said they’re not isolated in the region… this is back through open doors and the front door again." He said the moment reflects a broader shift in how Saudis understand their country’s place in the world. According to Alghashian, Trump’s repeatedly warm comments about the crown prince and the kingdom also contribute to a sense that Riyadh is re-entering Washington on strong footing.

The visit by MBS will be his first White House appearance since the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which U.S. intelligence assessed he approved, a charge he denies.

Jacob Olidort, director for American Security at the America First Policy Institute, told Fox News Digital that "Saudi Arabia is one of the top partners of ours in the region," calling the trip "well overdue, a reset of relations."

WASHINGTON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump hosted Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House on Tuesday, with the Saudi de facto ruler seeking to further rehabilitate his global image after the 2018 killing of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi and deepen ties with Washington.

Making his first White House visit in more than seven years, the crown prince was greeted with a lavish display of pomp and ceremony presided over by Trump on the South Lawn, complete with a military honor guard, a cannon salute and a flyover by U.S. warplanes.

Trump greeted bin Salman with a smile and a handshake on the red carpet, while dozens of military personnel lined the perimeter. The limousine was escorted up the South Drive by a U.S. Army mounted honor guard. The two leaders then looked skyward as fighter jets roared overhead, before Trump led his guest inside.

Before sitting down for talks, the two leaders chatted amiably as Trump gave bin Salman a tour of presidential portraits lining the wall outside the Oval Office.

During a day of White House diplomacy, bin Salman will hold talks with Trump in the Oval Office, have lunch in the Cabinet Room and attend a formal black-tie dinner in the evening, giving it many of the trappings of a state visit. U.S. and Saudi flags festooned lamp posts in front of the White House.

Trump expects to build on a $600 billion Saudi investment pledge made during his visit to the kingdom in May, which will include the announcement of dozens of targeted projects, a senior U.S. administration official said.

The U.S. and Saudi Arabia were ready to strike deals on Tuesday for defense sales, enhanced cooperation on civil nuclear energy and a multibillion-dollar investment in U.S. artificial intelligence infrastructure, the official said on condition of anonymity.

Trump told reporters on Monday, "We'll be selling" F-35s to Saudi, which has requested to buy 48 of the advanced aircraft.

This would be the first U.S. sale of the fighter jets to Saudi Arabia and mark a significant policy shift. The deal could alter the military balance in the Middle East and test Washington's definition of maintaining what the U.S. has termed Israel's "qualitative military edge." Until now, Israel has been the only country in the Middle East to have the F-35.

Beyond military equipment, the Saudi leader is seeking new security guarantees. Most experts expect Trump to issue an executive order creating the kind of defense pact he recently gave to Qatar but still short of the congressionally ratified NATO-style treaty the Saudis initially sought.

Trump designates Saudi Arabia as major non-NATO ally in defense agreement

President Trump announced on Tuesday that he signed a strategic defense agreement designating Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally.

“Tonight, I’m pleased to announce that we are taking our military cooperation to even greater heights by formally designating Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally,” Trump said, speaking at the White House dinner honoring Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“I’m just telling you for the first time because I wanted to keep a little secret for tonight,” the president added.

The agreement is the latest overture between Washington and Riyadh during the crown prince’s visit. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump and bin Salman announced Saudi Arabia would be investing $1 trillion into the U.S.

Additionally, administration officials said on Tuesday that an agreement to export semiconductor chips to Saudi Arabia could come as soon as this week. Trump also said he could see a nuclear civil cooperation deal between the two countries in the future.

Applies to all muslim countries. But you cannot use Western morality to judge them. It is just silly. They are muslims and as such have their own laws which are 'barbaric, backwards, and medieval' like non-muslim Singapore which has a like view of punishment for crimes on their books. You are just experiencing 'culture shock'.

The French have a different set of laws as do the Spanish - many of which you would find 'barbaric, backwards, and medieval'. In Spain do a crime and the guards posts a calendar outside of your cell, dutifully pulling the page off until the last day, where it may remain there, as will you, for days, weeks, months, years, depending if the guards like you or not.

About 40 years ago, I dealt a lot with Saudis in the petrochemical industry.  This might come across as a tad stereotypic, but my impression was that they were lazy as hell, and had absolutely no common sense.
