Woman left to die in driveway after being backed into by random driver who quickly fled like nothing happened: Prosecutors
Story by Jamie Frevele • 18h

A Michigan woman has been accused of backing into another woman with her car, leaving the other woman to die in her own driveway.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office announced that 31-year-old Stephanie Holt was charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault and resulting in death and commission of a felony with a motor vehicle. Holt was determined to be the driver of a vehicle that allegedly backed into 76-year-old Mary Hulswit, who was found dead at the foot of her driveway in St. Clair Shores on Saturday.

According to prosecutors, police responded to calls of a woman, later identified as Hulswit, found unresponsive at the end of a driveway. She had injuries that were "consistent with being struck by a vehicle" and was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators eventually arrested Holt, whom they said "struck the victim while backing out of her driveway." Details about her arrest were not provided.
