Ragnarok: New US cruise missile can hit targets 575 miles away and fly at 35,000 feet
US defense contractor Kratos Defense & Security Solutions unveiled a new class of low-cost precision strike weapons on Wednesday by introducing the “Ragnarök” Low-Cost Cruise Missile (LCCM).
The missile is a tactical system boasting a 500-nautical-mile range (575 miles), Mach 0.7 speed, and an estimated unit cost of $150,000 in bulk production.
The company said the Ragnarök LCCM represents a “significant leap forward” in the affordability and scalability of long-range strike systems as global militaries seek inexpensive, high-performance alternatives to traditional cruise missiles that often cost millions per round.
With its 80-pound payload, the Ragnarök is designed for precision strikes against high-value or time-sensitive targets, making it adaptable for manned and unmanned platforms.
