The Young Republican National Federation called for immediate resignations following a Politico report on a leaked group chat that featured racist, antisemitic and violent discussions.

“We are appalled by the vile and inexcusable language revealed in the Politico article published today. Such behavior is disgraceful, unbecoming of any Republican, and stands in direct opposition to the values our movement represents,” the Young Republican National Federation’s board of directors said in a post on Instagram Tuesday.

“Those involved must immediately resign from all positions within their state and local Young Republican organizations. We must hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, respect, and professionalism.”

The messages obtained by Politico spanned for more than seven months and were part of a chat among Young Republican leaders in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont.

Members of the Telegram chat group titled “RESTOREYR WAR ROOM” referred to Black people as “monkeys” and “the watermelon people,” according to the Politico report published Tuesday. They also discussed placing political rivals in gas chambers and sexually assaulting adversaries in the chat, Politico reported.

The chat also featured racial slurs and reportedly said that rape was “epic,” according to the report.

A White House official told Politico that the White House has no affiliation with the group chat and that hundreds of groups ask the White House for its endorsement.

The Politico report also comes at a time of intense discussion about political violence in the wake of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the killing of a Minnesota lawmaker and assassination attempts on President Trump.

Pressure has also recently mounted on Virginia Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones to exit his race in the wake of leaked text messages in which he openly discussed violence directed toward former Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R).

Numerous Republicans, both in and out of Virginia, have pushed for Jones to drop out, including President Trump and Vice President Vance.

Vice President JD Vance said the violent text messages sent by Virginia Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones are “far worse” than the newly exposed Young Republicans’ chat in which members joked about gas chambers, slavery and raping their enemies.

“This is far worse than anything said in a college group chat, and the guy who said it could become the AG of Virginia,” Vance said in a post Tuesday on the social platform X.

Vance attached a screenshot of a text conversation in which the Democratic candidate appeared to acknowledge that he had hoped the former Republican Virginia House speaker’s children would die.

“Yes, I told you this before,” Jones purportedly wrote in the chat. “Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy.”

Vance said he would not feign outrage over the new revelations about the Young Republicans while Jones remained in the race.

“I refuse to join the pearl clutching when powerful people call for political violence,” he said.

Leaders of Young Republican groups allegedly called black people monkeys, gushed about their love of Hitler, and spoke graphically of raping their enemies and driving them to suicide, vile leaked messages show.

Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair William Hendrix, who is white, used variations of the n-word more than a dozen times in his messages on the private chat app Telegram, according the messages obtained by Politico.

Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, also described rape as “epic” in another abhorrent exchange, the texts show.

While stupidity in young folks need not have been a set-up, what better way to discredit an organization than infiltrate it and sucker people into making inappropriate comments? Still, as a political organization, the members and especially leadership should be ever aware that nothing is or remains private on the web, and temper their statements and responses appropriately. At best, they got played (and this will ever haunt them), at worst, good riddance.

By the way, in 2020 Politico refused to publish the texts between Hunter Biden and his attorney George Mesires.
Hunter refers to Mesires as "bleep" repeatedly and says, "bleep you better not be charging me Hennesy rates."
Politico thinks we've memory-holed that episode.
