Senate Confirms More Than 100 Trump Nominees During Schumer Shutdown

The U.S. Senate voted 51-47 to confirm more than 100 of President Donald Trump’s nominees on Tuesday, during the seventh day of the government shutdown.

Among the batch of 107 of Trump’s nominees were “more than two dozen ambassadorial appointments,” along with over a dozen United States Attorneys, according to the Hill.

Sergio Gor — who Trump nominated to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs — and former Georgia U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker — who Trump nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas — were among the nominees confirmed.

The confirmation of hundreds of the president’s nominees comes after the U.S. Senate, in September, confirmed 48 of Trump’s nominees.

One of them is Mike Stuart, a former U.S. Attorney in W.Va. He finally has been confirmed as General Counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services - 238 days after his appointment. He posted on Facebook:

Despite being a former United States Attorney with a distinguished record who was confirmed by the entire Senate (Republicans AND Democrats) without objection less than eight years ago, I did not receive a single Democrat vote in favor of confirmation.  ...
I really am sick to death of the Democrats in the U.S. Senate.

If they've got 51 votes for this, perhaps they have 51 votes to nuke the filibuster and get the continuing resolution passed.
