In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court approved the Trump administration’s emergency request to lift restrictions on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) patrols, allowing agents to operate under a “reasonable suspicion” standard. The decision effectively reinstates broad enforcement powers, including the ability to target individuals based on factors such as limited English proficiency or certain types of employment. Democrats have argued the move will likely lead to widespread racial profiling.
