China could challenge US forces with large-scale swarms of drones in a conflict, a new report warns.

The US hasn't developed counter-drone systems at the scale and speed needed, the authors said.

Layered defenses involving a variety of countermeasures are needed, they wrote.

In a war with China, US forces could be overwhelmed by swarms of drones unless the military more aggressively invests in the systems needed to stop them, a new report warns.
