This argument is so damned funny.

The decision to pull Kimmel’s show off the air was made by Rob Iger and Disney Sr. Execs. Hardly MAGA.

In essence, we are watching the Left raging against actions by Leftists.

 :pop41:

They’re busy trying to gaslight Trump and MAGA to change the topic away from the reaction to Charlie’s murder.

Let’s not let them do that.

Do people on this forum seek out sources of information beyond what is stamped and approved by the Trump administration?

They dumped Jimmy Kimmel under pressure from Trump’s FCC chairman. They’re even threatening to go after others

When Trump said he could shoot someone on fifth Avenue and still keep his supporters, he was not kidding.

I swear to God that if Trump proposed gun control, a certain percentage of people on his forum, would happily turn in their guns because their reasoning  would be if Trump takes my guns, the Democrats can’t

And to add insult to injury, we’re not even getting a booming economy out of this presidency. I’m still waiting for that crow  I was told I was gonna be eating by mid September when I was critical of what Trump’s tariffs would do to the economy

Hmmm... do you check anything other than HuffPost?

Broadcast networks, under FCC licensing, cannot knowingly air false reports that cause public harm (per the broadcast hoax rule). They also risk losing their license if they deliberately distort news. On top of FCC enforcement, they face civil lawsuits for defamation if false reports damage reputations. (Please fact check me at will).

So basically, the timeline went like this...

Jimmy Kimmel deliberately distorted the news, and quite possibly engaged in what SCOTUS has defined as "actual malice" (New York Times Co vs. Sullivan).

The FCC threatened to take action on Kimmel's dialogue as a violation of The Communications Act of 1934 because ("NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW") of Kimmel's "reckless disregard" for the truth -- the shooter had confessed to several people, text communications which clearly determined the shooter's guilt, etc. -- and those things had been widely reported long before airtime.

Kimmel's "joke" was about to cost people millions (if not billions) of dollars, and they dumped him like a hot potato.

Beautifully organic.

My economy is booming. Not sure what you see wrong with your economy, but that would probably boil down to some inadequate personal financial decisions. Just my opinion. happy77

I would like to see gas prices go down.

We could probably get those down over $1/gallon if government just stopped taxing the Shiite out of it.

The difference between Trump and Biden/Obama is this. Kimmel lied. The only person on the Right in similar straits was Alex Jones. The left got him. Similar deal, only Jones had postulated in his own way that the Sandy Hook event was staged and not a killing. So the lawyers who dragged him out in court made one (a killing).

If that could happen to Alex Jones, it could happen to ABC. Imagine a MAGA class action suit for defamation, etc., which is what ate a chunk out of Alex Jones. The top people at ABC did. They canned Kimmel when he refused to walk it back. They felt they had no choice.

Enough with blaming Trump and acting like this is a one-off and something new.
The FCC will uphold the law, and against anyone out of line. If they don't the trial lawyers will.

Sheesh!

(And no, I will have my guns as long as I live, and have only made 60K more this year than last year, and prices for fuel and many other things have dropped here.)

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
