Former DC USPS worker’s citizenship revoked after stealing over $1.6 million in checks from mail
 
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A former United States Postal Service (USPS) worker was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison after stealing checks out of the mail he was delivering.

The 45-year-old was also stripped of his U.S. citizenship after stealing more than a million dollars’ worth of checks from the mail, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
 
The U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced that D.C. resident Hachikosela Muchimba, who was a letter carrier for the USPS, was sentenced for mail theft, bank fraud and participating in a scheme that netted him $1.6 million.

He was sentenced to 66 months after he was convicted on a string of charges in March.
 
Muchimba, who is originally from the Republic of Zambia, was naturalized as an American citizen in May of 2022.

The best way to handle a case such as mr. muchimba's is to offer him a deal:
- lose your citizenship
and
- accept immediate deportation back to Zambia (along with any family)
and
- we won't prosecute you
but
- try to come back, and you're going to jail for a long time.

I'll bet he'd take option #1...
