Florida church leaders 'enslaved workers and spent donation money on lavish lifestyle including luxury cars, jet skis and $10K on sea food'

Two Florida church leaders are accused of enslaving workers and forcing them to help solicit $50 million in donations to fund their lavish lifestyle of fast cars, jet skis and luxury sea food.

David Taylor, the leader of Kingdom of God Global Church, was arrested in North Carolina, while Michelle Brannon, Taylor's number two, was taken into custody in Florida, according to the Department of Justice.

Their shiny, beige-colored headquarters in Houston, Texas, were also raided by the FBI and SWAT teams on Wednesday, with officers walking out 17 people, some of them handcuffed.

An unsealed indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Michigan charged Taylor and Brannon with forced labor, conspiracy to commit forced labor and money laundering conspiracy.

Taylor, who allegedly called himself 'Apostle' and 'Jesus' best friend', was accused of running a multi-state call center operation staffed by unpaid recruits who allegedly told donors their funds were going to charitable causes.

The staff were not allowed to leave the call centers, which were located Michigan, Florida, Texas, and Missouri and faced starvation and psychological abuse if they missed fundraising targets per the indictment.

Others were forced by Taylor, 53, and Brannon, 56, to work as Taylor's 'armor bearers,' or his personal servants, the DOJ said.

The unpaid armor bearers were compelled to make food for Taylor, transport him wherever he wanted to go, maintain his fleet of cars and deliver him women who had to take Plan B pills after, according to the indictment.

Pastor David E. Taylor, the name-it-and-claim-it faith-healing and prosperity gospel heretic, was arrested yesterday after the FBI enacted coordinated raids on properties connected to his church, the Kingdom of God Global Church, including on his 29,000 square feet “parsonage” that he purchased in 2022 for $8.3M.

Along with Taylor, Michelle Branon, 56, the church’s executive director, was also arrested, and the two of them were indicted on charges that they used forced labor to generate millions of dollars in donations.

Taylor, who self-identifies as an “apostle”, claims that in 1997 he was “given the keys to the Kingdom of heaven by Jesus in a face-to-face appearance in a dream.”  ...

The Department of Justice said investigators found that Kingdom of God Global Church was, in fact, a perpetrator of a large human trafficking operation that spanned multiple states like Michigan, Florida, Texas and Missouri.

According to the indictment, Taylor and Bannon established call centers in these states operated by people called “armor bearers.”

Not knocking the Catholic Church , but I have a niece, devout Catholic, who as a young woman was sucked into a chapter(f that’s what you call it) of Opus Dei in New York and the girl would turn over very penny she made while out woking for them and then have the luxury of sleeping on the floor with others being taken advantage of. My opinion of them was that they also were a cult. Is all of Opus Dei like that, I don’t know but it is certainly he opinion I was left with, just like the followers of these vultures and the likes of Jim and Tammy fay and so many other TV ‘preachers’ that live the life of the 1% while conning the gullible out of their life savings….to do the lords work.
