Michigan man sent to prison for life for 'beating 19-month son to death' while mom went to work
Story by Anthony Orrico • 11h

A Michigan father convicted for the murder of his 19-month-old son will spend the rest of his life in prison after a federal judge handed him a life sentence.

Eugene Rantanen, 39, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his son, whom he refused to give up for adoption, federal prosecutors said in a news release. During sentencing, U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney said the sentence “will do justice” for the “horrendous treatment” of his son, Carter.

Evidence showed that on the night of Feb. 19, 2024, 19-month-old Carter was in the care of Rantanen. The two were alone at home when Rantanen called 911 to report that the child was not breathing. Carter succumbed to his injuries at the hospital five days later, the DOJ said.

Which congressional democrat has been assigned to his case to ensure due process is followed?  Oh, wait.  He's a citizen so they don't care about him, so no one will be assigned.
