Conservative influencer Benny Johnson traveled to Crockett’s new hometown of Houston, Texas, where he alleged she has been “code-switching” by adopting linguistic inflections and a street-fighting attitude that clashes with her pampered childhood.
Crockett was born in the “Republican suburbs” of St. Louis, Missouri, complete with the “mansions, country clubs, and private schools” that signal a far cry from the persona she’s adopted today, Johnson explains in a new investigative report.
From manicured lawns to prep schools and college brochures in the mail, Crockett was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, he goes on. Nothing exemplified her privilege more than St. Mary Country Day School, where she was enrolled by her parents, Rev. Joseph and Gwen Crockett.
“It’s one of the most prestigious institutions in the entire country. Also, one of the most expensive,” Johnson reveals, showing that St. Mary’s costs $35,000 per year to attend. Its high test scores “guarantee placement in an elite college,” he adds.
Olympic-sized tennis courts, swimming pools, and lacrosse fields adorn the school’s campus. Inside, Crockett “learned to play clarinet” in St. Mary’s music program, according to Johnson.
Her rigorous studies and extracurricular activities allowed Crockett to attend Rhodes College, which boasts a $74,000 annual tuition today. Later, she graduated from the University of Houston Law Center, which helped nestle her in the district that she would go on to represent in Congress. ...
