Ideas for "revenge" acts for Super Bowl LXI that would drive all the sycophants defending the Bad Bunnychoice crazy:
  • Wayne Newton - forget Spotify streams, the real test of a musician's stage presence is how long he can last in Vegas, and Wayne is the undisputed king! Get ready for "Danke Schoen" and "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast!"
  • The Four Seasons - complete with then-92-year-old Frankie Valli or a reasonably similar animatronic
  • Riders in the Sky - they're already accustomed to doing 15-minute sets every week on the Grand Ole Opry, making an easy transfer to American music's biggest stage. Enjoy a handful of old Western songs and jokes about Fred "Too Slim" LaBour's "cac-tie."
  • Jimmy Sturr - Everybody polka!
  • Dick Fox's Golden Boys (Frankie Avalon and Fabian)  - Why? Because he loves you.
  • Neil Sedaka - Eightysomething songwriter kvetching behind the piano, what could go wrong?
  • The Osmonds - Marie's a little bit country, Donny's a little bit rock and roll, and throw in Jay and Merrill for a little extra
  • A Musical Salute to Muzak
  • Pat Boone - and for extra, have him do all his early covers

These are just artists who are still alive and performing. I'm admittedly having a hard time finding women or minorities who would match the level of squareness I've already listed. (disclaimer: I like all of the above acts, even if I make fun of them, so maybe I shouldn't choose the halftime show).

I am out, my Auburn Tigers have been walked over by the officials enough... they can't buy a close game. Someone close the barn door behind me please. See ya next year.

I like your suggestions, @jmyrlefuller - some of them, anyway.   I never watch the Super Bowl halftime show, but probably would if it featured a really good marching band (like the old days).

Parity so far, which does make it interesting.
The Colts are 5-1 but I do not see that as a 16-1 season.
Possible a team may go 13-4, or more likely 12-5 (no more ties, please!).
Good news is win-loss records that we would normally start to write off by now may all still be in play.

That's my view as a Texans fan and I am sticking to it!

I finally got around to watching a replay of the Georgia game.  You're right.  The officiating was horrible, even without the bad calls.  Any time Auburn had momentum, there would be play review after play review.  And that Kirby Smart timeout?  The replay doesn't lie.  He was running to the official screaming "Time!  Time!  Time!" while making the Timeout gesture.  And with one second on the play clock, the officials stopped time but didn't charge Georgia for it?  Ridiculous.

I'm not a Hugh Freeze fan, but Auburn could be sitting at 5-1 hosting Missouri on Saturday.  Instead, they'll be receiving their second letter from the SEC apologizing for bad officiating.

I agree, Arch personally only had a fair-to-middling game. The low amount of passing yards was because a number of his pass completions were for screen passes, or dump-offs to avoid a sack, that ended up going for zero or negative yards. His basic problem is that he is taking too long to spot an open receiver, and his offensive line isn't good enough to give him the time he needs. So, he ends up getting sacked, scrambling for a small gain, or dumping it off for minimal or negative yardage. Still, a win is a win, and a win over OU means the season to a lot of Longhorn supporters and boosters. And Arch still has time to polish his game before facing the NFL draft.

Manning update against 2-4 (0-4 SEC) UK

12-27  132 yds, 0 TD's, QBR- 25.   :thud:

And 3 of the final 5 against A&M (No.3), Vanderbilt (No.10), and UG (No. 5)

Looks like a 6-5 season could happen with a fun time at the Chick Filet' Bowl.  Who goes first?  Arch or his coach.

Report: SEC permanently suspends Ken Williamson after review of Auburn-Georgia officiating

Grayson Everett  —  October 22, 2025

Veteran SEC official Ken Williamson has been permanently suspended from officiating conference games, sources tell Yellowhammer News.

The decision to remove the longtime referee comes in the immediate wake of an SEC review of eleven complaints against Williamson and his crew during the Auburn-Georgia game earlier this month. According to sources, nine of those complaints were validated by conference officials.

Yellowhammer News’ requests for comment from the Southeastern Conference went unreturned on Wednesday.

Auburn’s matchup with Georgia included unusually high-profile penalty calls.

Two sequences drew national attention: a late-second-quarter goal-line review that left both fan bases bereft, and a third-quarter sideline exchange in which Georgia coach Kirby Smart appeared to take a timeout before the play was ultimately reset without one being charged.

Georgia won 20-10.  .  .  .

Thanks @Hoodat .... Very interesting that something was actually done about it. I have had bad days, but I think even I could of called some of those call better especially with all of today's angles of view.

I would like to think that a massive tune-out during the halftime show like what happened in 1992 would eventually be a wake-up call to change course. They seemed to have last responded that way back in the early 2010s when the classic rock acts started getting stale.

Unfortunately, I think the Nielsens have already baked in their "mOsT wAtChEd sUpEr bOwL hAlFtImE eVeR!!!!!" rating before it's even begun.

TPUSA will offer an alternative halftime show of music normal people might like. I haven't looked into how they will deliver it, but assume it will be via the website.

BAMA is tied with South Carolina.  Less than a minute to go.

They managed to squeak out a win against Mississippi State, so they got their six wins. And Arch went out at the end after either hurting his ankle or getting his bell rung, I haven't seen an update on what happened to him. As for the remaining games, who knows?  Never underestimate the motivation of wanting to beat the Aggies, and vice-versa for that matter. Like Texas/OU, Texas/Texas A&M is a rivalry game and therefore unpredictable. As far as the other three games, who knows? Texas' game play has just been too much all over the place.

LSU fires coach Brian Kelly in the fourth season of his 10-year, $100 million deal

BRETT MARTEL  |  October 27, 2025  |  12:15 AM EDT

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — LSU fired coach Brian Kelly during the fourth season of a 10-year contract worth about $100 million, athletic director Scott Woodward announced Sunday night.

The move comes on the heels of Saturday night’s 49-25 loss to No. 3 Texas A&M in Tiger Stadium — a second straight loss, and third in four games for LSU (5-3, 2-3 Southeastern Conference).

“When Coach Kelly arrived at LSU four years ago, we had high hopes that he would lead us to multiple SEC and national championships during his time in Baton Rouge,” Woodward said. “Ultimately, the success at the level that LSU demands simply did not materialize.”

Associate head coach Frank Wilson, who also serves as a running backs coach, has been tapped as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Kelly was hired away from Notre Dame when his predecessor, Ed Orgeron, stepped down following the 2021 regular season.  .  .  .

Hey, guys... apparently if you have any opposition to that whole Bad Bunny selection for the Super Bowl halftime show, it's not actually real according to Jay-Z and we all secretly love him. :rolling:

I told an LSU friend that my Longhorns might have an available coach, and he is likely to come with a QB from his state.

He passed.
