Declassified Docs Show Anti-Trump Conspiracy
Over several days, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has declassified and published government documents that she says "verify that the alleged Russia-Trump collusion during the 2016 election was a hoax concocted by Democrats to undermine both the Trump campaign and the Trump Administration. Assessments by the intelligence community and forwarded to President Obama found no evidence of collusion between the Russians and Trump. Yet, President Obama dismissed this finding and insisted that a collusion meme be pursued. This was used to justify unwarranted surveillance of American citizens and a media campaign to cast suspicion on Trump."
Former President Barack Obama justified his actions, saying "the US Supreme Court recently ruled that a president cannot be held liable for taking actions he believes are necessary. In my judgment, Donald Trump represented an existential threat to our democracy. I directed the resources under my control to take whatever measures were needed to prevent Trump from winning the 2016 election. When this failed, I instructed the CIA and FBI to do whatever they could to neutralize Trump's ability to govern. This effort was largely successful. Trump was impeached twice and ultimately was defeated in his reelection bid. I should've received another Nobel Peace Prize. Instead I'm now being called a traitor by Trump."
Former CIA Director John Brennan said "Gabbard's publication of the documents confirming our efforts to save our democracy from Trump's fascism a grave disservice to the patriots who took extraordinary, but necessary steps to prevent him from undoing the transformational changes achieved by President Obama. Trump's loss to Biden in 2020 confirmed the wisdom of the unprecedented intervention ordered by President Obama. It is tragic that President Biden's inability to run for reelection allowed Trump's clever lies to overwhelm his unprepared and incoherent opponent and trick voters into giving him another chance to ruin the country in the 2024 election."
Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said that "Gabbard should stop releasing documents that contradict the narrative that we all agreed on during Trump's first term--namely, that Russia did meddle in the election to help Trump win. She is stirring up trouble that could damage reputations, end careers, or even cost lives. For the sake of the country she should let bygones be bygones."
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex) observed that "I'm doubtful that any president's official duties entail using government resources to promote lies that subvert the election process or the administration of his successor. This is fundamentally very different from a president exploiting his Commander-in-Chief authority to authorize an 'October surprise' military action in an effort to win votes. So, I think it would be difficult for the Supreme Court to classify former President Obama's actions as constitutional. On the other hand, statute of limitations rules may put many of the crimes committed by these conspirators beyond the reach of successful prosecution."
Former DNI James Clapper expressed concern that he might be prosecuted for his role in the Russia collusion hoax, saying "I was only following the orders given to us all by President Obama. I don't think it is fair to say I had no obligation to follow illegal orders. I'm not an effing lawyer. How would I be expected to know the difference between a legal and an illegal order?"
The more self-assured former FBI Director James Comey asserted "no reasonable Attorney General would try to prosecute any of us for doing what we sincerely believed was right. This held true when former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mishandled classified material. I expect it will also hold true in this case."
In related news, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asserted that "a recently declassified document exposed an extreme lack of effort and due diligence in the FBI's investigation of former Secretary Clinton's email usage and mishandling of highly classified information. Under Comey's leadership, the FBI failed to perform fundamental investigative work and ignored or suppressed key pieces of evidence. I'm grateful the American people can now finally see the facts for themselves."
The Colossal Waste of High-Speed Rail
In 2008, California voters approved a $9.95 billion bond measure to construct a high-speed rail system between Los Angeles and San Francisco by the year 2020. Seventeen years later and 1300% over budget, Gov. Gavin Newsom claims that "the project has met every obligation and we are now fast approaching the track-laying phase."
President Trump questioned "whether a project that was supposed to be completed by 2020 can honestly be said to have met every obligation' seems dubious. The original promise made to voters was that the trains would've been carrying passengers for the last five years. Now Gov. Newsom is shamelessly heralding an approaching start of construction when the only sensible course of action would be to cancel the project."
"High speed rail is not a worthwhile investment of taxpayer money," Trump argued. "It will never carry enough paying passengers to cover the cost of constructing and operating the rail line. It cannot match the speed nor the efficiency of air travel. It will needlessly scar the landscape. For these reasons I'm discontinuing the federal subsidies required to keep this colossal waste going."
Newsom accused Trump of "surrendering the future to China. They are pressing ahead with investments in high-speed rail. Instead of allowing wasteful personal automobile ownership to dominate their economy they wisely discourage it. We need to do the same. Letting people decide where they want to go and how they are going to get there caters to selfishness. Good government needs to stifle this anarchic individualism in order to promote the welfare of the collective whole. This is the change the World Economic Forum is trying to implement to save the planet. Democrats are in step with this way of thinking. Trump and his neanderthal MAGA minions are not. Voters need to appreciate this and choose wisely in the next few election cycles if the world is to avert calamity."
Trump Policies Spur Investment Growth
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent went on Mornings with Maria on the Fox Business Channel to tout the stimulating effect Trump's economic policies are having on business investment, saying "the tariff is bringing back manufacturing to the US and the tax reforms in the One Big, Beautiful Bill are encouraging businesses to invest more. By allowing businesses to fully deduct costs for improved facilities and machinery rather than requiring them to be amortized over a longer period efficiency and productivity can be implemented more quickly. The way that countries get rich is through long-term investments that improve productivity."
"Another important step was deregulation," Bessant added. "We are making it possible to build things in America again. For years, if you wanted to build a factory, a pipeline, a transmission grid, you were held up for years by delays in getting government permission. President Trump has given a mandate that these permits should get out within a month. So America is building things again."
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) called Trump's economic policies "capitalism run amok. He's loosening the controls that the government has used to restrain runaway prosperity. Not everyone is in favor of runaway prosperity. It doesn't benefit everyone equally. Those who invest more or work harder get a bigger share of the wealth that is created. The socialism that I favor puts equity ahead of prosperity. It is more important that the wealth be shared based on need rather than that it be multiplied by innovators and entrepreneurs who will try to keep too large of a share of what they produce. Voters will punish the Republicans for unleashing too much prosperity. That is the saving grace of our democracy."
Not all businesses will be helped by Trump's policies. Most notably, the so-called "green energy" projects that have been heavily subsidized during the Biden Administration will see harder times. Bessant said "the energy produced by wind and solar power costs far more than customers are willing to pay. They are also less reliable. The wind doesn't always blow. The sun doesn't always shine. Blackouts and brownouts are inevitable. On top of this, windmills and solar farms massacre millions of birds every year. Worn out windmills and solar panels end up as toxic waste. Those who want to buy these finicky and expensive devices should not be subsidized by the government."
"Democrats Need to Be ruthless"
Former US Representative, US Senate candidate and 2020 Democratic presidential contender Beto O'Rourke (D-Tex) went on CNN's State of the Union to tell host Jake Tapper that "we have to be absolutely ruthless about getting back in power. So, yes, in California, in Illinois, in New York, wherever we have the trifecta of power, we have to use that to its absolute extent."
"Take the California Assembly, for example," O'Rourke said, "Democrats out number Republicans 60 to 19. In the Senate it's 30 to 10. Democrats have the votes to gerrymander every state Republican out of their seats. We can do the same to the 9 Republicans currently holding seats in Congress."
Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed repealing the state law which vested the power to redraw congressional maps to a nonpartisan independent commission, saying "we have the votes to effectively eliminate every Republican office holder in the state. Getting rid of these fascists will protect our democracy from their evil machinations. If other Democrat-majority states do the same we can achieve the national unity that former President Biden couldn't. We could sit around talking about the way the world should be. Or, we can seize the power to remake the world."
Cuomo Inadvertently Clinches Election for Mamdani
In what he mistakenly thought was a winning argument in his campaign for New York City mayor, former Gov, Andrew Cuomo said he "will move to Florida if socialist Mamdani wins in November."
Brooklyn resident Luigi Corleone said "I was planning on voting for Sliwa. He's not a communist kook or a crook like the others, but the opportunity to get Cuomo out of the state is very tempting. Mamdani's ideas are stupid, but I don't think he ever murdered anyone. Cuomo, on the other hand, ordered nursing homes to admit covid-infected old folks. Thousands died as a result. Cuomo should've gone to prison. Maybe he'll be eaten by an alligator in Florida. It would be justice if he is."
Polls currently show support for Mamdani has increased since Cuomo threatened to move out of state. This development inspired Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for Cuomo, to say that "the Governor was only joking when he said he would move to Florida if Mamdani won. He would never give up on New York."
Boys Need Gay & Non-Binary Friends
In an appearance on The Light Podcast, hosted by his wife, Michelle, former President Barack Obama offered his views on male development and friendships, saying "a dad, no matter how good the dad is, can't be everything. A boy may need somebody to give the boy some perspective on the dad, like Frank Davis did for me when I was growing up."
"I had a gay professor in college at a time when openly gay folks still weren't out a lot, who became one of my favorite professors and was a great guy and would call me out when I started saying stuff that was ignorant--like men can't have babies," Obama recalled. "If you have a boy who is gay or non-binary, they have somebody that they go, 'Okay, I'm not alone in this.' That was a big help to me growing up."
"We have two daughters," Michelle said. "I'm so glad I didn't have a boy because he would have been another Barack Obama. Having one of those in my life is enough."
