Medvedev is nothing more than a puppet for Putin.  Putin pulls every string on this clown.

And we now know that Russia's military is a paper tiger.  Why the Duchy of Grand Fenwick(smallest country in the world) could defeat Russia in a ground war(The Mouse That Roared, for you movie buffs).

Russia has been proven to be a weak nation under Putin, with the worst military tactics used from WWII.  Any of you that saw the video of them sending three waves of men and armored vehicles down the same road, all being taken out by Ukraine forces lying in wait knows what I am talking about.

The men at the top of Russia's military are every bit as corrupt as Putin, stealing everything they can get their hands on, which explains why certain generals have conveniently disappeared, Russian style.

If Putin were smart, and not suffering some form of mental impairment, he would have accepted Trump's invitation to end the war, and be welcomed into the G7.  But he just can't bring himself away from his delusions, of reconstituting the USSR.  That will not happen in the next 100 years, of that I am certain.  But Putin is clueless, and the Russian people even more so!

Putin and Lukashenko highlighted recent Russian advances in Donetsk Oblast and articulated Russia's desire to seize Ukraine's fortress belt - which ISW continues to assess will constitute a multi-year long effort. Putin claimed that Russian forces recently seized Chasiv Yar, although Putin acknowledged that Russian forces are still clearing the town and that Ukrainian forces may counterattack into Chasiv Yar in the future.

Putin claimed that Chasiv Yar is “quite a large settlement,” although 2022 census data states that Chasiv Yar had a pre-war population of 12,500 people.

Russian state media and milbloggers are attempting to oversell the seizure of Chasiv Yar as a significant development along the frontline, and Putin appears to be leaning into this effort.

Lukashenko further claimed that Chasiv Yar is “the road” to Kramatorsk, which Lukashenko called the center of Ukraine's defense (referring to Ukraine's fortress belt - a series of fortified cities that form the backbone of Ukraine's defensive positions in Donetsk Oblast).

Lukashenko claimed that Russian forces will “slowly gnaw” at, seize, and advance beyond Ukraine's fortress belt. Putin responded that Russian forces will “return” the fortress belt, which Putin claimed belongs to Russia. Lukashenko claimed that Ukraine should quickly ask Russia to negotiate an end to the war before Russia seizes the fortress belt.

ISW has long assessed that Russian forces aspire to seize Ukraine's fortress belt, and Putin's statement marks the most recent high-level Russian confirmation of this intention.


Putin's desire to seize Ukraine's fortress belt indicates that he is willing to continue military operations in Ukraine long beyond Trump's stated August 8 deadline for peace in Ukraine and is ready to undertake complex, years-long operations ... Russian forces are currently expanding their salient southwest of Kostyantynivka (the southern tip of the fortress belt) in order to support a future attack on or envelopment of Kostyantynivka and the wider fortress belt from the southwest, but seizing Kostyantynivka alone will likely be a months-long effort. A Kremlin-affiliated milblogger recently noted that it took Russian forces 14 months to seize Chasiv Yar and that Kostyantynivka is roughly 3 times larger than Chasiv Yar - underscoring how long a frontal Russian assault into Kostyantynivka could last.

It is allowed to carry up to 100 liters of liquids and up to five 25 kg bags of bulk materials. Owners of hunting or traumatic weapons must report this for license verification. It is allowed to carry radios, subwoofers, gas canisters, stun guns and sporting weapons without restrictions. Drones can be transported, but their use in Crimea is prohibited.

The Crimean Bridge is prohibited for trucks, semi-trailers, all-metal vans and tow trucks, regardless of their weight and category - the restriction applies to all vehicles with the “truck” mark in the documents. An exception is made only for pickups such as “Largus”, “Caddy”, VIS and vehicles with special passes. The Ministry of Transport recommends planning trips on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when traffic is minimal, and leaving early in the morning or at night.

India planning to keep buying Russian oil: NYT report

India is going to continue to buy Russian oil despite warnings from President Trump and the U.S. government.

A report from the New York Times citing senior Indian officials revealed the news on Saturday.

The NYT report follows reporting from Reuters the day prior that said refineries in India had paused Russian oil purchases.

On Friday, Trump had said India might stop buying Russian oil.

“I understand that India is no longer going to be buying oil from Russia,” Trump told reporters. “That’s what I heard. I don’t know if that’s right or not. That is a good step. We will see what happens.”

The Kremlin has yet to employ a coordinated response to US President Donald Trump's August 1 announcement that he ordered the deployment of two US nuclear submarines closer to Russia ... Kremlin newswire TASS published footage on August 2 showing the Knyaz Pozharsky Borei-A class nuclear submarine arriving at the Russian Northern Fleet's main submarine base in Severnomorsk, Murmansk Oblast.

The Knyaz Pozharsky submarine entered service on July 24, 2025. A Russian milblogger used the arrival of the submarine at Severnomorsk to claim that the Knyaz Pozharsky is far superior to American analogues and that the Russian Navy will put the Knyaz Pozharsky on combat duty in response to Trump's deployment of nuclear submarines.

tASS amplified a claim from a senior research fellow of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Latin America that Russia could deploy Oreshnik ballistic missile systems to other states, including those in Latin America and the Caribbean, to ensure Russia's global military presence and the sovereignty of Russia's allies.

The research fellow's August 2 claim parallels a Russian milblogger’s August 1 call for Russian ships and submarines equipped with nuclear weapons to visit Cuba. Both responses attempt to invoke the historical memory of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov parroted many of the same talking points that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko made during a press event on August 1 that blamed Ukraine for the lack of progress in negotiations and signaled Russia's unyielding commitment to its longstanding demands ... Putin's, Lukashenko’s, and Lavrov’s statements represent Putin's official position about negotiations and his war aims.

ISW continues to assess that Russia is uninterested in compromising on its long-standing demands that amount to nothing short of Ukraine's capitulation and continues to promote inflammatory rhetoric designed to undermine US-European cohesion.

Indian oil refineries reportedly continue to import Russian crude oil despite US President Donald Trump's imposition of 25 percent tariffs on India's exports to the United States ...  Indian outlet ANI reported on August 2 that Indian oil refineries continue to source oil from Russian suppliers due to “price, grade of crude, inventories, logistics, and other economic factors.”

ISW previously assessed that European and US sanctions appeared to be degrading Russia's revenues from third-country importers of Russian oil and that sanctions that target countries that purchase Russian oil would further hinder Russia's ability to finance its war in Ukraine ...

Additional air defense systems have been transferred to Moscow

Our source in the Ministry of Defense reported this. He decided to respond to rumors and concerns about strikes on the capital and the Moscow region, "which are spreading in light of recent events."

"Many people, including famous and influential people, are now especially afraid of strikes on Moscow. I will say honestly: there is a threat, and strikes can be carried out from several directions. But there is no need to worry about this. We have transferred additional air defense systems from several regions of the country to protect the capital and the Moscow region. Sources close to Sergei Sobyanin have confirmed the strengthening of Moscow's defenses and say that they are very grateful to the military.

At the same time, according to our sources in the FSO, Vladimir Putin was advised to visit Moscow less often until approximately the end of September. This recommendation was received literally the day before.

Military sources say there is "nothing special, just routine precautions" and urge people not to panic over the information.

A couple different online sources are saying the Russians lost at least two nuclear subs at Kamchatka.

I am also noticing the MSM is remarkably silent about the Russian quake and tsunami.  tipping hat!!

Sophia, Mykyta, their 2-year-old son Lev and their unborn baby were killed by the Russian strike on Kyiv on July 31.

The family was from Sloviansk and fled to Kyiv from the Russian invasion. The Russian missile hit the residential building's entrance where they rented an apartment, killing the whole family.
