Waiting for the GJ transcriptions will buy months of time to break new crises.

Bongino was not "rumored" to quit ... Bongino threatened to quit. It's his stupid MO. The only jeapardy he's in he put himself in: if he threatens to quit again, it will be accepted and he's out. Few put up with this workplace blackmail twice.

Yeah. $3.19 is the average price the day I made my post up thread a mite. 87 octane gas is down another penny, here, to 2.74 and 9/10/gallon. While not as cheap as Texas, it's still well below the national average. About my only beef is with beef prices, but they are up all over, with beeves going for $2.00 a pound on the hoof (live weight) That will come down as herds build, and they will, now that fuel prices make haying etc. more economical and product prices make it worth it.

Gas is still around 3.50 up here. Eggs are still over 3 bucks, but under 3.50 if you shop it... And AA Large are back around, so new layers are finally up and running, I bet. Beef is swinging a bit. Seen as low as 1.60, and as high as 2.25 on the hoof - But you probably know all that swinging is the price ratcheting down. So it's all going in the right direction.

We're going to have big hay this year too. 2nd cut is ready, waiting on the rain to quit, and 3rd cut might happen if august ain't too hot.

And no smoke so far... It's fixin to be a bumper year all around... garden and crops.

Since I raise black angus, am not complaining on higher beef prices. Feed and fertilizer are up bigtime and herd size here is very low.

Cattlemen are restocking herds. I just sold 4 600# bull calves for almost $8,000, well over $3/lb.

Texas is higher in one thing, it seems.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said that there will be no vote on some documents relating to the Jeffrey Epstein case before Congress breaks for the August recess.

Johnson made the announcement after “the House Rules Committee advanced the measure last week, and as the lower chamber prepares to break for the weeks-long August recess on Thursday,” per the Hill.

Johnson told reporters that the House will not vote on the resolution before the August recess, adding that he wants to give the Trump administration more time.

“Here’s what I would say about the Epstein files: There is no daylight between the House Republicans, the House, and the president on maximum transparency,” Johnson said in the Capitol on Monday. “He has said that he wants all the credible files related to Epstein to be released. He’s asked the attorney general to request the grand jury files of the court. All of that is in process right now.”

“My belief is we need the administration to have the space to do what it is doing and if further Congressional action is necessary or appropriate, then we’ll look at that,” he added. “But I don’t think we’re at that point right now because we agree with the president.”

Looking at other letters in the same era, in which Trump signed his first name, it appears to be genuine. It is absolutely amazing the pretzels Trump supporters must twist themselves into in order to protect their guy. So many people have lied and/or fabricated evidence against this poor man.

Much ado about nothing. I don't expect even the most ardent Trump groupie would claim he was a saint a few decades ago, and whatever relationship he had with Epstein is long over.

Not saying he's a saint now (I don't presume to know another person's relationship with God), but even as someone not completely besotted with him, I can see he's not the same person he was. Even if the card is authentic, where's the crime?

I voted for him knowing his personality and limitations, and I'd vote for him again, even if there were photos with Trump humping 12-year old girls on Fantasy Island. I assume Trump dipped his wick in whatever struck his fancy back in the day. Just listen to the Access Hollywood tapes.

I refuse to believe that every single situation he has found himself in is some sort of hoax or conspiracy. His claim that this birthday card was fabricated after the fact by the Obama administration is a laughable lie. Ghislaine Maxwell assembled the tributes on Epstein's birthday, and she has already testified that this was among those that came to Epstein at the time.

Trump is an imperfect man who has a vision of where he wants to take this country. Some of that vision I agree with, some not so much. Regardless, nothing good is going to come out of lying. Honorable public servants are putting their reputations on the line defending him, and as their diminished integrity in this matter is apparent to everyone, it will limit the perception of integrity in matters of greater importance. All to protect the POTUS from being embarrassed.
