Pam Bondi dodges questions on Epstein and Bongino amid Justice Department turmoil

Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested Tuesday that she has no plans to step down as she dodged questions about Jeffrey Epstein and her clash with a top FBI official, seeking to press ahead with a business-as-usual approach in the face of right-wing outrage that has plunged the Justice Department into turmoil.

Pressed by reporters during an announcement touting drug seizures, Bondi sidestepped questions about the fallout of the Trump administration’s decision not to release more records related to the wealthy financier’s sex trafficking investigation that has angered high profile members of President Donald Trump’s base. With some calling for her resignation, Bondi made clear she intends to remain attorney general.

“I’m going to be here for as long as the president wants to be here,” Bondi said. “And I believe he’s made that crystal clear.”

“This today is about fentanyl overdoses throughout our country and people who have lost loved ones to fentanyl,” Bondi said in response to a question from a reporter about the Epstein files. “That’s the message that we’re here to send today. I’m not going to talk about Epstein.”

Trump has been seeking to tamp down criticism of his attorney general and defended her again earlier Tuesday, saying she handled the matter “very well.” Trump said it’s up to her whether to release any more records, adding that “whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”

Asked about Trump’s comment, Bondi said the Justice Department memo released last week announcing that no additional evidence would become public “speaks for itself and we’ll get back to you on anything else.”

Asked Tuesday whether she believes Bongino should remain in his role, Bondi said only that she would not discuss personnel matters. Bondi stressed that she had spent the morning with Patel, adding that: “I think we all are committed to working together now to make America safe again and that’s what we’re doing.”

Sigh ...  once again .... Bondi stated that she had the Epstein files on her desk and was going to release them.  She didn't.  She threw a hissy fit and demanded that Patel have them on her desk by morning.

Does that ring a bell @Right_in_Virginia   Trump also stated that he was going to release the files.    Does that ring a bell?

Now they are backpedaling, does that ring a bell??

Ramifications of the transparency that he promised??   Did he lie to the public or did he open his mouth when he shouldn't have?

Yes, and that is why ultimately Trump should have kept his mouth zipped and he didn't and neither did Bondi.

Bondi is only doing what Trump asks of her. She is the scape goat currently, but the FBI statement didn’t come from her It’s pretty clear trump is implicated/His name is mentioned, so there hasn’t been a shift.

Why else would they say the list is on his desk, then say there is no list and now saying there is a list and files but it was made by Obama and it’s the same as the Russia hoax?

She could even give sworn testimony under threat of perjury and answer a simple Yes or No answer to the question of a client list.  Is there one in the files or is there not?

Just look at it practically, EVEN if it was just Epstein committing the actually crimes, there would still need to be logistics involved:

The parents of the children
The pilots
The security
Maids

Bondi herself said there where 1000’s of victims, no way only TWO people where involved. So why haven’t those I mentioned above been prosecuted, interviewed etc and if they have, why is this information not disclosed to put it to bed.

It’s an absolute joke to just suggest only two people would be involved - the simple fact is the Republics, democrats, trump etc are covering up something.

We are talking about the government here, if you fart they prosecute you.

For starters, it isn't what you know, it is what you can prove in a court of law.

And there are the 'leverage' aspects of such information, should it exist, that might make it worth more undisclosed rather than tied up in courts and motions and other delaying tactics.

In the meantime, in a job that has more facets than a 5 ft. disco ball, the DOJ has been fighting rogue judges issuing nationwide injunctions and a host of other issues. In the bigger picture, though we all see the idea of a bunch of wealthy and powerful pedophiles 'getting away with it' as anathema (their day of Judgement will come, ultimately, and no lawyers need apply), the DOJ might as well park the temp quarters outside of SCOTUS.

There are other fish to fry, and on that front Bondi and the DOJ have been doing well.

It's like wanting to fire the world's best custodian who won't do windows, to the detriment of the rest of the building. Instead, hire someone to do the windows and let the rest be done right.
